That's a nice campsite and a cool little town. Looks like people can take rides on that train? I would've had to ride it for sure, lol! I had to laugh at Sami Jo's expression when she was in the truck. It reminds me of the way my cats treat me half the time! 😹 Safe travels to your next destination. 🙂

I really miss camping and exploring in that area: Cottonwood lake, Taylor reservoir, Breckenridge... But I have my new truck camper all hooked up with solar, and ready to return for a visit. 70° with a breeze sounds like Heaven right now.

Stuff we need to know before we go , finding out about little things like this before I sell my home and get my rig is very important stuff. Still beautiful scenery though , just go buy fish if you want it on the menu, cheaper if ya just rolling through.

GAL, Experienced rvers have learned to arrive at their campgrounds on Sunday afternoon. Most of the young weekend campers will have packed up & headed back home as they need to be at work Mondae. That leaves a mostly empty campground for you to take your pick of sites. !

This is the first summer in 6 summers (wow!) I haven’t camped in the Leadville area. Thanks for sharing Frugal! I gave up on walking stick medallions for the same reason - gave up on the hard wood. Another nice spot you are camping at. I love the view there and the well spaced out spots! I only fish in Arkansas, I know the laws and it only costs me $10.50 a year for a fishing license. LOL I probably will never fish in another state, like you said, license is way to high for out of state folks and I would not want to get caught breaking a fishing law not being aware of the law I was breaking in the first place. LOL It would probably be a very high fine. Great Spot!

If you have a federal passport for NPS, NFS, BLM, etc all you need to do is display your pass and you don't have to pay fees for day use. The Colorado yearly is the best deal, its almost 100 bucks, but its good for a year. As for lures, rainbow trout rooster tail 1/4 ounce, silver 1/4 ounce kastmaster are really good, very seldom use anything else when spin tackle fishing, use line no heavier than 5 pounds... your not bass fishing in Texas. Wooly Boogers in olive and black are okay in size 18 to 20, irresistible Adam's in size 18, San Jaun Worm #18, if you are not using a fly rod, get a water bubble and a 2 or 3 pound line for tippet. You are close to great lake fishing at Turquoise Lake next to May Queen Camp Ground, between Twin Lakes and Leadville are some little ponds along the Arkansas River, open to public and stocked with trout.

You're in Leadville and don't go play in a casino? What's up with dat?! A pack of smokes and a few beers will clear that altitude sickness right up. Also, I think you are limited to 1/2 stick of dynamite when fishing in Colorado. You only need a license if you get caught. ;-)
