Good man well done you. How did the flashing come out
@paulr95725 ай бұрын
Did pretty much exactly this on my extension roof, and it worked out pretty well. Brickie was actually impressed! Only difference was that I used Hall Clips to hold the flashing in the wall, and Lead Mate to fill the gaps. Both worked really well. Two years on, it still looks good.

Hall clips are great, I was taught with lead plugs. Well done for having a go.

I hadn't watched it till the end before I commented, you should have washed the dust out before you fixed it, mortar doesn't stick to dust for to long, not a dig just advice. Your good thought.

When you have felt and batten the roof, why didn't you cut the chase then for the leadwork, now you have mess over the plain tiles

I dont like grinding to far when i use lead sheet sealant. I find it easier to mark the grind line when you lay the lead up the roof. The lab can cut and bend it while im grinding

Should the wall that the roof butts up to have stepped cavity trays in?

I am trying to repair my flat roof. I have applied the adhesive to the roof. When I lay felt onto the adhesive do I have to peel off the thin plastic sheet from the felt first? Absolute beginner here😮😮.

Yes peal back 500mm. Get that stuck, then roll it back over the bit you stuck and remove the film as you roll out.

Did my porch in the same way and then realised after a weeks heavy rain that I should have put a DPC in the front face of brickwork that followed the flashing as the with the bricks being old and clay they soaked up the rain like a sponge which eventually by passed the 25mm flashing tucked in at the mortar joints. Now have to water seal the front of the house every ten years or end up with damp in the porch on what was the outside wall. Bear this mind when your told ‘you don’t need a DPC mate, rain won’t get through those bricks’………not yet maybe..
