It's System10 profile, ask for 84mm outer frame. You'll get a good job inside and out. Slim profile is 56mm Heavy duty is 72mm Then they do the 84mm. I'm using it more and more, all pvc doors now I specify it for the outer frame, as you don't need knock on's ;)

Stu, those thunderbolts. Let's say it's a 10mm diameter bolt. What size drill bit do you use? I tried using them a few months ago. 10 mil bolt with a 10 mil hole. It didn't work; slid in & out. I just resorted to using anchor bolts.
@stuartandrews4344
@stuartandrews4344 3 жыл бұрын
Pilot hole is usually same size as bolt used,so 10mm with a M10 bolt, but if material is soft,can with a lot of masonry bolts drill a smaller 9mm hole for bolt to grip.

Should never use screws on a roof mate, a roof moves all the time and that’s why you need nails they have play in them screws don’t they just sheer, not good practise to advertise this not the proper way of doing things mate !
@azza1793
@azza1793 3 жыл бұрын
brendan holland , don’t all timber structures move when the timber dries out and with expansion/contraction therefore you wouldn’t be able to use screws at all, take decking for example which is screwed not nailed
@brendanholland8991
@brendanholland8991 3 жыл бұрын
Azza 179 a roof is different, it moves in about 5 different directions depending on wind direction and weather, usually timber structures are rigid but by building regs most should be nailed, only time you use screw type fixing is for anchoring, as that’s all screws are for us anchoring.... and the whole point of anchoring is to minimise movement where as nailing leaves natural movement a a roof needs
@lewiscain7421
@lewiscain7421 3 жыл бұрын
The screws are holding no weight, I’d probably have used a nail gun but I doubt that there’s going to be enough stress on the fixing to cause the screws to fail. You can get structural wood screws that are designed to replace nails, however anything big rafters, joists, framework I’d nail just for belts and braces.
@mattdoliver1984
@mattdoliver1984 3 жыл бұрын
Lads come on? Nails are stronger than screws...screws being more brittle. But screws hold better allowing strength in the timbers natural movement..I'd nail a roof for convenience but to say you shouldnt screw it is wrong! It's not exactly a proper cut roof is it? And to say you shouldnt nail a deck?? Personally screws and nails are interchangeable and it's just down to preference these days what you use!
@christaylor5291
@christaylor5291 3 жыл бұрын
Paslode nails or similar are a placement fixing. You end up firing 3 more per rafter or hip on a cut roof to compensate for traditional hand wires which are a thicker gauge. No strength in gun nails. We use them because time is money. It’s a canopy roof. Nothing major. Personally I think it’s a shame the flat/Georgian arches are being covered up.
