Yes, it’s uniquely designed for all skin types - plus you have the flexibility to add or remove individual DE blades to suit your needs. I can’t recommend it enough. The TWIG is also a great option!

Love the leaf for my head and even face. Yes around the nose it's not the best but you can still do it. Cutting out plastic and as it's cheaper for razor blades. I only use 2 half blades in the leaf, 3 feels no different. You can put whatever blades in you want.

Leaf is highly dependent on what blades you use. I use Astra on 1 and 3, feather in 2. good to go

Good thing about the leaf razor is you can do a full shave with a half blade. 1 to 1.5 blades for a cart feel.

Right on. I have both and no comparison. The defender is 10 times better. I have to make a minimum of 4-5 passes with the leaf. Only 2 with the defender

The leaf is ok. Couldn’t fight the curiosity & tried it. It wasn’t for me. Mostly because I was only using one blade in it. Which is best for my skin..a single edge for face & head. I mentioned the Focus Dynamic R48 here in the past which is a similar concept Italian made razor that accommodates one “snapped” DE blade. Smoothest shave possible with a Gillette platinum blade. The defender is a great inexpensive average consumer option. Tried them a couple of years ago HIGHLY recommend over Harry’s which are a horror show of multi blade razor bumps. Defender is probably the best by far in that market segment. Good video. Thanks.

Only thing positive I can say about my experience with the defender is the customer service. I first tried the sensitive blades for my headshaves and with the grain was fine, but against the grain pass was impossible. Tried the regular blade and it was way too harsh. Cut the hair well but ended up with some nicks and lots of irritation. Actually preferred my Harry’s cartridge blades. Currently awaiting delivery of my Leaf. Hopefully it’s the last razor I’ll buy for a long time

I’ve been struggling for about two years to find what works best for me. The leaf paired with Astra blades was too aggressive for me even when only using 2 blade slots. A few days ago I picked up a dollar shave club six blade from target. I had my second shave with it this morning and it’s provided a more comfortable shave than my current Gillette Skinguards. I have a Defender in the mail currently so if it doesn’t work out I’ll be switching to the DSC 6 blade. I only use the razors to shave my head and I’m shaving every other day. Just my personal experiences.

I have never really had an issue with shaving... unless you wanna talk about the slaughterhouse I had this morning with my safety razor.... lmao, been a couple years using it, but after a shower it was all clear lol. Really hoping this works wonders on head shaving though, I generally shave maybe once or twice a week, that's why i was all about the no clogging aspect of this razor. You?

@@Nipstradamus I’m shaving every other day and I’m addicted to the completely bald feeling you can only achieve through an against the grain shave. The only thing keeping me from shaving daily is the irritation. After a year with the Gillette Skinguard and mediocre results (1 comfortable shave and 2 or 3 additional okay shaves per cartridge) I began searching for an alternative. I found the Defender and went for it. In the meantime I decided to try the DSC 6 blade and found that a sensitive razor may be the opposite of what I thought I needed. This whole time I was trying to achieve an aggressive shave using a non aggressive razor. At this point I wouldn’t be disappointed if the defender is the last razor I ever have to try. I hope it treats you well brother! Edit: I don’t know why but the Leaf just tore me up! Many times I’ve returned to give it another chance and every time it’s the same results. I’ve tried it with different shave creams, gels and soaps and it’s just a no go for me.

i want to shave. but i get those bumps on my neck. i used to shave all the time. i would wash my face with that salicylic acid acne face wash but blades get dull its hit and miss. for over a year i have been using the one blade for my neck and i wanted a closer cut so i use a norelco on face but i cant use it for my neck. but hey it works- i do setup that every other day.. and next day just hit the mustache and upper cheeks with norelco... i want to try shaving again. been a subscriber for a year i think

I was rooting for the Leaf shave, I own one and use it on my face 3-5 times a week with 2 blades in it. The blades have lasted me up to 2 weeks and they were still very sharp! I do change them every weekend though just to keep a clean, sharp blade, the economy factor of one D.E. blade a week is nice :) I do agree the head is a little excessive and I have taught myself to shave sideways on the mustache area. The Leaf paired with Cremo shave cream gets me awesome results every shave! I might try the Defender when I run out of blades in around 70 weeks!

@@averageguytested Fusion and Mach 3 were always my goto's not because i loved them but because they did better for me than other brands in regard to cut and irritation levels. That said they both still irritated my skin to a fair degree and had the same clogging problems as other cartridge razors. Switched to defender a year ago and it isn't even close. Much less irritation to my skin and i couldn't clog these blades if i wanted to. It has made something i used to put off (Shaving) into something i look forward to. Defender is the best cartridge razor i have used hands down

Nice review! But, the Leaf can use any DE blade. So the shave can be as aggressive as you want. Apparently, the Leaf blades are not aggressive. Artra, Feather, Dorco, Gillette...etc.are all possible with the Leaf. Maybe, someone else has already pointed this out. Sorry it I'm late to the party!

Ive just invested in these new defender razors and was feeling optimistic about its performance. This video along with the numerous other reviews confirms its superiority. Defender takes the cake fellas! Plus we save on the defender's modest priced refill cartridges.

Yes, the Boldking - like many cartridge razors is designed for ease of use. The LEAF requires a bit more technique. Stick with what works for you! 👍🏽

I like the idea of the Leaf. But that big old top head piece makes it a pain for me. Especially having to go use and accessory makes it a bit of a failed design. There's a similar idea on indiegogo called the Broman but it only has the option of 1 half de blade. Have a great Sunday.

If anyone sees those gaps between the Defender's blades and thinks it may be a gimmick i assure you it is not.....it is a key part of what makes these blades amazing. Zero clogging and irritation free smooth shave

Thanks for this video.. it answered a lot of questions for me.. I've been using the Defender razors and I love them. Best razors I've ever used. I've been curious about the Leaf for the heavier metal handle and inexpensive razors but I think I'll stick with the Defenders. I'm a head and face shaver and the Defender performance is equally good for both. I have very sensitive skin and traditional safety razors give me terrible razor burn.

I’m curious which defender cartridge you’re using? You mentioned sensitive skin so I’d imagine you’re using the sensitive or extra sensitive version? I have a defender and four of the regular cartridges in the mail currently and I think I should of chosen the sensitives maybe 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@TCX-up6hs since I posted this i dove into traditional wet shaving and have purchased several safety razors and. Leaf Razor as well as the single edge Twig. I've found that with proper techniques, good hardware and software and practice I get great shaves with the safety razor for my face and outstanding shaves with my Leaf on my head. However, at the time I was using the Extra Sensitive carts for the Defender. I still think as far as carts go the Defender is about the best there is. Even the regular carts were good.
