@@MyName_Jeff 100% it was worth it but the thing is dude when we made that trade he didn't even have a contract he was an RFA we just got his rights, we didn't need to actually resign him for 1 year, he couldve gone to arbitration so I know why the leafs wanted to just avoid that but again all his numbers and metrics do not add up or fit into the system this team plays whatsoever, dubas is a clever guy so it's really hard to understand what hes thinking here. We could've traded Ceci right away after acquiring him for anything, no matter what it would've been an asset gained because we signed Zaitsev free out of the KHL. Even like a 7th round pick would have been a win but something more reasonsable could've been done for sure like trading him for another cheaper defenceman that's just as good but on a 2m deal (think about the contract Holl signed, a guy like that) and then had some extra cash for a solid backup. Maybe we'd have to throw in a pick or maybe we wouldn't, either way but Ceci is really not cutting it and he's being paid way too much on our salary constraint team. If he was making 2m it'd be a differnt story. Also I'm sorry but hutch just ain't cutting it so getting rid of ceci for that extra cap space could be huge for our team. The last two games played both Ceci and Hutch were mostly the two root cause we lost 4pts. Ceci against Florida was just embarrassing and gave our main competitor for the playoff spot critical points

@@michaelbacon8698 The Leafs had no choice, we had to re-sign him cause the Senators gave him a qualifying offer before they traded him. If Leafs would have taken him to arbitration his salary would have stayed the same or even slightly higher because his stats improved since the last arbitration + the salary cap rose.

@@MyName_Jeff yes if you read my comment I mentioned the arbitration but they still could have gotten rid of him, Ottawa traded his rights away, we could've then done the same thing he was an rfa... or even a sign & trade, instead hes been on our top pair and top four most of the year it makes no sense. I know why they had to pay him what they did but I don't know why they didn't get rid of him, they still could all this time but now he's injured and trade deadline is coming up and I don't think you can trade an injured player so if he doesn't come back soon we're stuck with him. Oh well. In my and many other people's opinion he does not fit the mold of the leafs whatsoever everybody knows it we don't need a guy like that especially making that kind of coin when we are so cap strapped
