The duct tape is used to make a skin around the costume- duplicating the surface area of your structure. It is then removed and the shapes are transferred onto the fabric. Sew the fabric pieces together to match how the duct tape skin fit together and put the fabric on your costume. The duct tape is then thrown away when you're finished (or kept as back-up patterns just in case).

You can get it at upholstery repair places, fabric stores, and even automotive/boat repair because it's the kind of foam that goes in chair cushions. And of course online.

@WaterWolf1241 Thanks! ^^ The foam is called "Upholstery foam" (high density is what I use) used in chair and couch cushions and it can be found at most fabric stores. Also check online, at upholstery repair/supply places, and even automotive and boat repair stores. What I use for the eyes is aida cloth, which is used in cross-stitching and has tiny holes all over it. I like it because you can color it with markers to look like any eye you wish. Buckram works for eyes too as well as chiffon.

I asked this question as well and she told me she made it out of the stiffer kind of paper, tape and iron wire. The fabric she used was flanel because the minky fleece she used for the other parts of Leafeon was too heavy for the tail to move and stand up like that.

Dat moving jaw is amazing. I appreciate the this video! The way you do foam over the blaclava is clever, gunna have to try that method! Also, your carving skills are really good.

She used thick paper with tape to attach the wire and she used both wire and tape to shape the lower part of the tail. Also she used the wire for the movement of the tail. She then covered it in fabric ^^

She told me she made it out of the stiffer kind of paper, different kinds of tape (masking tape, painters tape etc.) and iron wire. The fabric she used was Flanel because the minky fleece (which she used for all the other parts) ended up being way too heavy for the tail. The tail is connected to her body with a tight kidney belt ^^ Hope this helps! :D

Cling wrap should go between the foam and the duct tape. In the video I tried using blue painter's tape- it is not recommended because it is expensive and does not stick to itself well to hold shapes for pattern transfer and I had to have duct tape put on top of it anyways, causing me to use twice as much tape.

@FaunoDufaux Ah, yes, there's actually a reason I my suit doesn't look anything like my concept art. If you notice in that image, I was going to have a static jaw and planned keep to the Pokemon's original design... but then all my other friends in the Eeveelution group decided to do their own interpretations and add in moving jaws. I didn't want to be left out (and I love moving jaws) so to match them, I changed the head design to allow for that but I had to extend the muzzle more than I wanted

@KittyKyomi Ah yes, I didn't have a video or horizontal images of the duct tape dummy bodysuit to put in there. Basically all I did was take some old pajamas and had Ani cover me skin-tight in duct tape. We carefully cut it off (cutting through both tape and pjs) and it gave me an exact duplicate of my body's surface area. This is what gave me a pattern to trace onto the fur, however I don't recommend cutting up and using the duct-tape pieces for the pattern directly, use it only as an aid.

There isn't any reason the horn should fall off if it is glued in place properly- and you can also wrap some muslin like a bandage around the base of the horn and glue the heck out of it to the horn and the forehead. I'd use high density foam for the horn and ears so it's more self supportive, but you may need to strengthen the ears with wire.
@DeadLikeMe1234
@DeadLikeMe1234 11 жыл бұрын
mostly yes, you can also sew the parts first but the best is to glue it directly to the foam.

@gamefreak000151 The glove's pawpads are made from real leather. ^^ Upholstery foam is the type you're looking for. Most fabric stores carry it. And since it's the stuff used in pillow cushions, you can check upholstery supply/repair for chairs and couches. Also automotive or boat supply/repair stores may carry it.

@moggotropolis1 I use hotglue as my main adhesive for basically everything on this costume. The elastic is sewn onto the balaclava and foam is hotglued onto everything else. Just don't try to hotglue it to the mask while you're wearing it and glue your eyebrow like I did

@MarkusRavyn3 Nah, don't be, it's a good question. The reason is rather ingenious actually: What it does is give you a removable shell that is the exact duplicate of the surface area around your mask. You cut it off in pieces and use those pieces as your direct pattern on the fabric. Without it, I wouldn't know how to put the fur on properly! ^^

She's probably not making a Glaceon soon. And this isn't really a tutorial, just to show you how she made her personal costume. But it's not hard to change a leafeon into a Glaceon. Just don't get the slices out of the ears and change the head leaf into Glaceon's thingy and add the other side thingies. The same goes for the tail. And voila! There's your Glaceon :D

Depends how your skills are and what exactly you're going to do. I have seen people make a full fursuit in just 1 month. But for example Riley's Groudon took her about a year I guess because of all the body padding etc. My own realistic Leafeon fursuit took me about 2,5 months though my skills are almost proffesional. So it really depends.

My boyfriend wants to make a Nidorino costume, but we're both unsure about the horn on it's forehead. It's very big and we don't know what we should do with the horn. It's ears were too big so we had to cut pieces off. Now we're afraid the horn will fall off too if we glue it on. Or maybe it won't stay up like it's supposed to. What do you recomment about the horn and the ears if I may ask??
