You still need to manually clean up and add animations on top of mocap, mocap isn't magic either, you can't just capture it and transfer it, for realistic animations it gives a basis for animations but you still have to change the whole thing, clean up jitters and other things and then dial the body mechanics of the creature you can animating but for stylized animations like arcane, it's all from scratch and acting out the shots by real persons so they can watch and animate.
@mutantmagnet2 жыл бұрын
"Fortiche real animators, no motion capturing." Come on let's not do that. I do think Fortiche has achieved a level of artistry above any long form show to the point you have to start comparing them to animation teams making movies but let's not dump on people making very hard choices on how to craft their shows. I never animated in my life but I can still tell motion captured work still gets touched up on by animators, because this happens all the time for teams making videogames having to deal with the idiosyncrasies of making motion capture work in game. Everyone in the industry is doing real work but have different artistic sensibilities and their canvas is constrained by budget and time.

I'm so glad they took the time to get it right, it's such a great performance that now I can't imagine anyone but Ella Purnell as Jinx. As they said, she really captures both the quiet and emotional parts of the character as well as the eccentricity, rage and trauma. While the game version of Jinx might be one of the most iconic characters Riot has produced she was mostly just "quirky". In my opinion the show team masterfully elevated the character in every way not only by (but in great part via) the acting performance.

The voice performance of Jinx is outstanding! Ella Purnell is Jinx she stole the show throughout the whole thing from the beginning to the end of the first season I hope we get to see more of Jinx! And sees what happens after the cliffhanger at the end of the First Season! Arcane will always have a special place to my heart! The show may have action but it also has sadness and it's about trauma especially with the character of Jinx because she's going through so much between losing her sister by even though she didn't technically lose her she felt very lost and empty and yet when she became a totally different person it makes you feel like you almost feel sympathetic for her because you know what she's going through this show is phenomenal and I can't wait to see what the future happens for Arcane!
@MrSheduur2 жыл бұрын
I think it is less sympathy but more that sadness to see her fall this much, especially since she wanted to help but made it worse without realizing it. That song part "what could have been" underlines this so very well. What Powder could have been if this fateful moment did not take place as it did. So if you feel sympathetic it is mostly because you still go back to the wholesome family bond that she and Vi shared when they were younger, and that longing to get it back, even though everyone understands that this will never be.

I don’t have siblings. I fell in love with Vi and Powder. They mean everything to me. I relate so much with Jinx and with Powder where it all started and to see their relationship blossom and then…..well yknow, hurt so much because that’s kinda how I feel as a lonely only child with 2 working parents (who feels she’s a burden and shouldn’t ask for much, trouble em more when they’re so busy). Ep 3 broke me. Well the whole show did. Powder’s VA is phenomenal. Best kid acting the way she did that I’ve ever seen. And Ella…..man. I have no words. This show has such a mature tone that I’ve been missing from my life. I never know how much I needed this show.

Fortiche blew everyone else out of the water with Arcane, 3D stylized animation has never felt so gritty & powerful - incredible work, and all for a tv show! not a movie - yet it's so polished and artful, you'd never know. The studio should be considered one of the greats in animation for this, truly.

@9:14 CHILLS bro. Amazing performance by Mia that scene is the pivotal scene that really hooked me into the series Also the animator that got to work ton the Ekko/Jinx fight scene and used his son as reference nearly gave me the tears. Such a precious moment that translated so beautifully onscreen. I'm so glad this show is snagging up awards like crazy and getting all this recognition. Seeing the hardworking and deification they all put into this project throughout this documentary just shows how much the earned and deserved it's praise.

I’m so glad they did a part on the voice acting at the end of episode 3. The scene from “You did this? Why?” to Vi walking away is burned into my memory for its raw emotional intensity. Powder’s actress absolutely killed it.

That moment in the show where the performer is on stage playing that weird violin was the moment this show jumped to the top position for me. The way they build the scene, around a musical performance and the music itself, weaving multiple complex layers of drama, skill, ingenuity, and commitment, to provide a sequence of breathtaking highs and lows, while still maintaining the progression and development of both the characters and the plot. So, I'm very pleased to learn they styled the soloist in the show off the same guy who actually plays the solo in the score. Mad respect.

Nothing is perfect it's all hand-crafted but it's exactly that why we all cherish and feel it on a human level. They chase after the little details that they speak that is probably done by a human and not with the easy way of modern technology like motion capturing. Back in the days people had to spend even +hours to create what is known now as animation and it wasn't as developed as now modern technology and it's that much more natural of appreciating the human hard work.

Most animation in the usa is a glorified commercial for a newly created product. Arcane you already had your product and selling said product was not the focus. I applaud them for making the storytelling the focus, a very rare concept in this day and age. I believe thats what creates these strings of emotion filled magical moments called episodes. This is just the tip of the iceberg I believe. Amazing amazing

After season 1, I told myself to be patient for another season. It's obvious from watching that such a masterpiece cannot be churned out in a year. This is absolutely truly so inspirational. Watching every second of this was basically: “THAT’S HOW THEY DID THAT?!?!” the amount of amazingly talented and hard working people they have working at each part: - how the storyboard artists start combing the story - how the concept artist begin drafting their art - how the 3D modelers use their art to create a model - how that 3D model is then sent to the rigging team to create movement and flow - THEY EVEN HIRED PEOPLE TO DO ANALOG ANIMATION everything about this shows process was so well crafted and meticulous, every shot and scene from the show is truly its own “illustration and painting” And absolute masterpiece and masterclass. I hope it catapults the industry into a better path. It just feels so sad seeing HBO and Cartoon Network cancel their animation shows.

Anyone who worked on this show who see this, you have to know that you made us dream and it's beautiful to me that you can give this emotions. Special mention to the animator that had the opportunity to works with his son to make the ekko scene where he runs, you must be so proud of him and I'm sure he's also very proud of you. I also loved the moment in the video where we see people at Fortiche doing the reference scenes, I laughed a lot. Thank you again Riot and Fortiche
