When they talk about the simplicity about the mechanical arm, I think that's a huge plus. Because my brain can understand every movement and piece going on, so it looks interesting and functional. When I see something like a transformation on the Michael Bay transformers movies I just see a blob of nonsense, it's too complex so I just see visual noise and it's less interesting than this thing that I can read and understand how it works.
@shaunswieringa171
@shaunswieringa171 2 жыл бұрын
Yup agree 100%. Yeah the detail of like the transformers is cool to see maybe once in a controlled environment, but with it always being that way it just kinda becomes visual diarrhea and looks like blurry shapes mashing into other blurry shapes. This arm has that level of detail where I think, Yeah this could actually exist to a degree and that really sells the awesome factor of it.

"it's part of the performance." THANK YOU for mentioning that. Animation, once it all comes together, it's so much more....IN DEPTH than any live action anything ever. EVERYTHING goes into animation, even a characters pose cause it will say so much about the scene, the character, the tone. Your mind can connect to the body language of what's going on really easily with animation vs live action. You can see Jinx scream and slam her hand against the machine and go "oh she's kinda losing it." or see Powder crouched low on the ground, huddled in on herself and go "she's distraught." a character widening their eyes and their pupils constricting is so much more impactful than a human widening their eyes cause you can REALLY get up close and personal with it. Animation is an art, and the art is putting on a show. More people need to understand this.

The only thing I didn't like (and it's very nit picky) is how obnoxiously overemotional Jinx could be at times. I understand it's part of her character, but it got to the point of being annoying sometimes. Like, oh here we go, she's gonna have another tantrum again.
@DarthRayj
@DarthRayj 2 жыл бұрын
@@pearodox That's not just part of her character, it's part of how someone who's been intensely traumatized repeatedly from a young age IS. I've been romantically involved with more than one person with Borderline Personality Disorder, one of whom straight up said Jinx in Arcane is highly relatable, and that is sometimes how people can act. Yes, it gets annoying, but like, it's REAL, it's not just Riot being quirky and making the character a trigger-happy maniac (which is actually more accurate to her in-game persona); they actually took the time to write her as if she was highly traumatized. It's part of why you don't ever know *what* she's going to do when she has a tantrum. Her in-game persona would be predictable and blow something up, but with Arcane, she might break down sobbing, she might blow something up, she might pretend like everything was fine but you'd still know something was off, she might blame someone else, she might blame herself, you DON'T KNOW what she's going to do but the possibilities are never good, for herself OR anyone else.

When watching Arcane, every few minutes my brain had to just step back and marvel in awe at how well presented the visuals were-in artistic rendering, pacing, timing, readability (Alex's "antic" and follow-through).... My favourite part about the boxing scene that they didn't really touch on it how it sells that Jinx COULD have beaten Vi's score if she was more controlled. Between the braids, the follow-through and pose variety they're showing a *lot* of wasted movement, whereas Vi is always tight, controlled and in a centered posture. But of course that's central to both their characters: Vi is typically very controlled, whereas Jinx is right on the edge of losing it at any given time, and this is yet another fantastic example of how that's demonstrated via their respective fighting styles.

Surprised that no one mentioned how spectacular was the fighting choreography, in special Vi's boxing. It was really on another level imo, how it really feels like real boxing and a real fight, the weight, the speed, the cleanness, it just feels right. @@ianjohnson8419 Ohh thanks, hadn't seen that one. It doesn't talk about the boxing but it a really great analysis on how great these fights are on storytelling. Imo that was the best aspect of the series, the fighting scenes communicate so much about the world, they are pillars of the world building not just action after the world was explained. Jinx x Ekko talks a lot about their previous relationship and hints how they deal their with memories, ekko using his memories for combat and jinx being haunted by her past. Vi and Jayce really shows how confident and experienced Vi is in a fight (sharp, clean objetive hits, dodges) compared with Jayce's anxiety followed by over excitement (overkill hits, slow big swings, close calls). That fight is extremely important to understand why Jayce changed his approach to the situation after he experienced a real fight with casualties.

@@Mocorn yeah that was probably an ability that they shouldn't of had as superspeed (force speed) is really hard to work with and I think they realise that and is probably why they tried to completely forget about it. Honestly if they just kept to them force pushing themselves quickly away and made sure it was a limited force push it would've avoided any issues all together.

I've trained my dogs to understand anticipation movement... by doing that same looney toons movement before I dash across a space so now my dog barks and bolts forward just by doing that antic sometime even just doing slow motion movements makes them think i'm gonna run or dash! This further supports that dogs understand that reality has rules this was supported by a study that if a dog was shown a physics engine of a ball then they would be uncomfortable and confused when the creator animated the ball to move in a way that it wouldn't in real life! so I have been applying this methodology since one if my dogs is particularly smart in this area to see how far I could push it and train new rules to build anticipation that it's simply how that works... only to break those expectations by doing something completely different to see if he can understand that the rules I built originally never existed to begin with and can understand that there are rule of unpredictability... it's my hope to train him to think smarter with adaptive thinking by allowing him to understand that some rules aren't set in stone! and that new rules can be made!... I understand in this process if I could succeed i'd be making a monster who will manipulate you to get his own way... but as long as I get him to compartmentalise that to specific situations not situations dealing with humans it would be best... incidentally in this process i've found him slowly become more well behaved i've already trained him to give me his paw instead of barking loudly to say please and when I have a treat he does this now without command putting his paw on my leg or on any surface he can find pre-emptively to say please in advance! the older dog she I still have to say "paw" to... he however just gives me his paw without asking... often resulting in a hand shake because he has learned that if he does this he not only gets the treat but gets praised for being a such good boy! So there have been benefits to teaching my dogs critical thinking, with the older dog it doesn't work so much but due to the younger dog having the mentality of a puppy still... he is curious and fascinated always watching and listening to what family members do... he's studying us and is eager to learn more from us... which means he has untapped potential in intelligence that others could see due to his child like nature... but due to my autism I can relate in that regard used to being underestimated myself i'm developing a strong bond like an older brother! and I perhaps am the only one in the family capable of training and teaching him due to my unique position and my ability to understand emotive behaviour in both humans and animals just by looking and analyzing them there and then! I dunno how the studies of Milo and my training him may bare fruit for society but who knows what the future brings really anyways i'm gonna continue watching and stop tangenting

I would love to hear more of this guy's thoughts on this level of work from a smaller team, especially coming from his perspective working on massive Disney projects. I feel there are probably loads of benefits to cutting out chunks of red tape and management from a big company production. We already see tons of this with indie game studios with lots of them being run by people who used to work at big corporate places. I'm excited to see where film and animation is headed with smaller powerful teams.

I rewatched both volumes recently and after watching your 'React' series I have a new-found appreciation for it. A LOT of the episodes use more realistic CGI (some episodes also seem to incorporate comping, mo-cap, or real footage), but many of the episodes use more stylised 3D-animation, I think you guy could give some really interesting criticism and/or feedback. I love the animation of it it's just so... full and whole with so many details and satisfying movements. And I love the look of it with it having so many muted colors accented by bright glows. However the 2D effects I am not the biggest fan of. They're not of poor quality and they are very smooth, but you can tell they were composited in. In some parts it feels natural like the smoke or steam coming out the gauntlet vents, but say when they clash weapons, it feels like the effect is just on top of everything like a sticker as opposed to a natural part of the scene. I think the issue is that it doesn't correspond and commit fully to the perspective and focal length and all these different factors you need to keep track of in 3D. I think it'd be better if they had these 2D effects in the 3D software to align them better and make them feel more like they're happening within the scene as opposed to on top. There's just a lot of other productions, both high budget and indie, that managed to do 2D effects in 3D a lot better, I feel. And I think here it'd be better if they just did a lot more 3D VFX in the mix with 2D.

I never watch animated stuff, like, ever. Started watching Arcane cold, no background on the "league" story or anything. I can say it's the best show i've seen in years. Absolutely shattering. Better to go in without any spoilers but even if you watched this, you should give it a go.

Not knowing anything about league is actually the best way to experience arcane since knowing things about league removes tension from knowing who is and isnt in the game and thus is very unlikely to die

@@RepstarVixen yeah my experience watching it with no knowledge of any LoL lore was completely different to my mates who all play it. Not knowing powder becomes jinx was, to quote the op, absolutely shattering. Episode 4 hit like a truck for me. Importantly not knowing who are league characters went a long way for not knowing who could die and who will have invincible plot armour because they're a League character.

I'd also like to point out 6:29 at the end of the spinning back kick: They do the old Jackie Chan editing technique of showing you the hit twice to sell the impact, but then your brain turns it into one big hit. If you go frame by frame (press "," or ".") they show the leg extended in the last frame of the closeup, but then the leg is still chambered in the first frame of the wide shot and re-extends in the next frame.

Haven't seen much, but I have seen theory videos, and I do hope they start introducing the other regions of Runeterra, they seem to be foreshadowing something about Noxus, and if so, I would like to see how they would begin to introduce the Noxian invasion of Ionia, possibly introducing the Ionian champions aswell, of course I doubt this will all haplen in the next season, as they seem to be planning to put in Warwick and maybe Urgot into the story, but I do wish they would get to it in the future.

Nice We need more stuff like this. it is beautiful, and almost like Invincible in that it's almost R rated. I almost prefer animation to live action bc you're not constrained by what's physically possible, some stories just can't be told through live action. THis and SPiderverse are good examples. film and tv is so focused on making it look photoreal, when that was never the point. the point was to make art, and art doesn't have to look photoreal. From a writing standpoint, this show is just a masterpiece. there's like over 80 analysis videos on this one show, each one covering a diffferent aspect of the show. that's really saying something. truly an inspiration to all artists out there

I knew literally nothing about Arcane or League of Legends. Had no interest in League lore or gameplay either. But the absolutely incredible animation plus everyone saying it was a fantastic story as well completely sold me and I was not disappointed. Really shows you that the quality of the animation can really sell the project for you. Whether it’s really shitty so you can laugh at it with friends or absolutely incredible to where you have to see the story they took the time to put all of this incredible artwork in.

Player here.if you people get tempted to play because of this.ill just warn you about the hellish experience it can give. Playing for fun not caring about winning or losing is not harmful. But playing it competitively is pretty stressful because its a game with a team of people you didnt know. So teamwork is almost non existence.

Another call for a "Voice Actors React" segment. There are many great stories out there about how these women and men elevate the experience we get both in animated shows and video games. It's very likely Mark Hamill would sit on the couch if it's about voice actors.

JESUS KNOCKS ON YOUR HEART AND LONGS FOR YOU TO ANSWER! HE DOESN'T WANT TO SEE ANYONE PERISH INTO HELL. GOD LOVES YOU SO HE GIVES YOU FREE WILL AND A CHOICE TO ACCEPT HIM OR REJECT HIM. PICTURE YOUR BEST DAY ON EARTH TIMES A BILLION FOR ETERNITY, THAT'S HEAVEN! NOW PICTURE YOUR WORST DAY ON EARTH TIMES A BILLION FOR ETERNITY, THAT'S HELL! HE WILL GIVE YOU WHAT YOU WANT SO IF YOU REJECT HIM YOU WILL BE SEPARATED FROM HIM & HIS BLESSINGS (LOVE, PEACE, JOY, HOPE, REST, ETC). IN HELL YOU WILL BE ALONE WITHOUT GOD OR PEOPLE... YOU WILL BE HOPELESS, IN DESPAIR & AGONY FOREVER! GOD'S STANDARD FOR HEAVEN IS PERFECTION AND ONLY JESUS (THE SON OF GOD/GOD IN THE FLESH) LIVED THAT PERFECT LIFE! HE LAID DOWN HIS LIFE & TOOK THE WRATH OF THE FATHER ON THE CROSS FOR YOUR SINS! GOD IS JUST SO HE MUST PUNISH SIN & HE IS HOLY SO NO SIN CAN ENTER HIS KINGDOM OF HEAVEN. IF YOU ARE IN CHRIST ON JUDGEMENT DAY GOD WILL SEE YOU AS HIS PERFECT SON (SINLESS SINCE YOUR SINS ARE COVERED BY JESUS' OFFERING). YOU CAN ALSO CHOOSE TO REJECT JESUS' GIFT/SACRIFICE & PAY FOR YOUR OWN SIN WITH DEATH (HELL) BUT THAT SEEMS PRETTY FOOLISH! GOD SEES & HEARS EVERYTHING YOU HAVE SAID & DONE. YOU WONT WIN AN ARGUMENT WITH HIM & YOU CANT DEFEND ANY OF YOUR SINS TO HIM. YOU'RE NOT A GOOD PERSON, I'M NOT A GOOD PERSON... ONLY GOD IS GOOD! WE'RE ALL GUILTY WITHOUT ACCEPTING JESUS' SACRIFICE FOR OUR SINS! MUHAMMAD DIDN'T DIE FOR YOUR SINS, BUDDHA DIDN'T DIE FOR YOUR SINS, NO PASTOR/NO PRIEST/NO SAINT/NO ANCESTOR DIED FOR YOUR SINS, MARY DIDN'T DIE FOR YOUR SINS, NO IDOLS OR FALSE gods DIED FOR YOUR SINS, NO MUSICIAN OR CELEBRITY DIED FOR YOUR SINS, NO INFLUENCER OR KZbin STAR DIED FOR YOUR SINS, NO SCIENTIST OR POLITICIAN DIED FOR YOUR SINS, NO ATHLETE OR ACTOR DIED FOR YOUR SINS! STOP WORSHIPING THESE PEOPLE! JESUS CHRIST ALONE DIED FOR YOUR SINS & WAS RESURRECTED FROM THE GRAVE! HE IS ALIVE & COMING BACK VERY SOON WITH JUDGEMENT (THESE ARE END TIMES)! PREPARE YOURSELVES, TURN FROM SIN & RUN TO JESUS! HE KNOWS YOUR PAIN & TROUBLES, HE WANTS TO HEAL & RESTORE YOU! TALK TO HIM LIKE A BEST FRIEND! ASK HIM TO REVEAL HIMSELF TO YOU & HELP YOU TO BELIEVE IF YOU DOUBT! DON'T WAIT TO CRY OUT! NO ONE IS PROMISED TOMORROW! HE LONGS FOR YOU TO INVITE HIM IN, HE LOVES YOU MORE THAN ANY PERSON EVER COULD, HE CREATED YOU! Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."-John 14:6 "But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven."-Matthew 10:33 “For the wages of sin is death (hell), but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord”-Romans 6:23
