I met Leahy in the late 90's in Ottawa at the NAC when they performed at the GG awards. Fantastic group of people. Very out going and friendly bunch who wanted to hijack my limo and go into the 'Market' in Ottawa. There was 8 of them!! What could I do? Great memories. Great music.

Is that limo by any chance the extended hummer h2 I’ve seen around town?

Its tough typing with goosebumps ya know? I discovered them when i went to Halifax to open a call center, a few years ago now. i'm a little white guy with 2 left feet. Cant carry a tune nor keep the beat. They ought to be a National Treasure!!!!!!

Amazing song, but I'm curious as to why the drummer is behind a blast shield.
@awarmmilkandcookies4 жыл бұрын
Acoustic drums are loud as fuck. In a setting like this, the wall is needed to prevent the other musicians (and the audience) from getting their ears destroyed. Also if his beats are too fire, the drummer might explode and nobody wants to get that on their shoes.
@delci4 жыл бұрын
Maybe he has a tendency to drop the drumsticks, and the others finally got tired of the flying sticks? 😛
@FormerTurnip4 жыл бұрын
The noise floor of a stage like this is quite low, so it just helps control the sound. A metal band might sometimes have an incredibly loud stage volume so it doesn't matter how much the drums bleed over
@thewindowsitters95443 жыл бұрын
In case on of those fiddles finally gives out. It's for protection
@OmarPhoenix3 жыл бұрын
For purposes of live recordings, they isolate the drums that way the audience noise does not bleed into all of the drum microphones.

@glittermerchant13 жыл бұрын
@oakcityrules its not all that difficult to be honest, there just definetly needs to be an excellent technical foundation really, its mostly scale runs and decent bowing skills which takes time but as a piece its relatively easy...however this video is three tunes...the curlew, jennys chickens and the tamalin/ b minor reel....the most difficult of these pieces rangewise /technique wise etc is jennys chickens.maybe give a shot at the curlew and work your way up=Dsoon youl have the whole thing

@glittermerchant13 жыл бұрын
@Ronbomb1 ...i remember learning these tunes when i was about 10 ish or so... theyre all great ...seriously though give the first tune. the curlew a shot youll be able to build up some of the technique needed for jennys chickens and the tamalin/b minor reel in which the bow technique needed for crisp string crossing ,the finger dexterity 4 runs,rolls,double stopping etc.can be refined...drowsy maggies reel isnt in this set, although there is a high possibility you know it as different title=P

It might have something to do with the engineer that can be seen at 1:19 trying to fix something. Also after the song, she turns to her pedals as if to troubleshoot herself

If that is your pet peeve, then your musical career is over! The audience is what the music is about--if you cannot interact with your audience(in a positive way, mood), then bye, bye! Try heavy metal rock, that is an angst driven vent.
