I was darn lucky to see this incredible family live back in 2008 OMG!!! The are all so talented. I bought a CD from them at the concert and I still wear it out. I love every song on there. Still have a crush on two of the ladies. Most talented family ever.

I close my eyes and I'm a little kid again sitting in my Aunt living room on a cold winter night wood stove blaring! Listening to this I can hear her clacking the spoons while my cousin play his fiddle while some else is playing a harmonica and we all sing to the songs! Step dancing to the music and not giving a care! makes me proud to say I come for the beautiful island of Cape Breton and I wouldn't trade it for the world

I saw them live when I was like 12 in my hometown in Québec and got all their autographs :D They are such nice and inspired people. I only recently rediscovered their CD hidden in my cupboard the other day. Glad they could be part of my childhood memories.

Listening to Donnell Leahy brings me ack to listening to and dancing to the legendary maestro from Belfast Ireland, the great Sean McGuire, especially when he plays reels especially the Masons Apron. Sean referred to this tune as " A simple two part tune in the key of A." There was and is nothing simple in the way they play it. Is there also a taste of Stephan Grappelli?

Can GEICO help you save money on car insurance? Does Leahy play a very mean fiddle?! [Watches Leahy as he implodes his fiddle from the sheer awesomeness of his skill...]

Helped me out so much. For others wanting to learn this arrangement, the high road to linton is not in this. As well, names vary a lot but of the kings ones, the first one was "king george strathspey" and the second was "kings reel" (though king george IV was another song)

The drummer is behind protective glass, in case the bow gets shot off the violin strings, like a bow and arrow. They lost 3 drummers that way, he's not going to be #4! He watched This is Spinal Tap; he knows...

While there is no question that Donnel Leahy is an awesomely talented fiddler, this is NOT played in the proper Cape Breton style! He completely deviates from the proper rhythm patterns, accents, and embellishes with American, Old Time tags & flourishes rather than sticking to the traditional Cape Breton style of "ornamentation". Still a great performance tho! ; )
