@@Samiam-mu5ln ??? In the end I don’t care what Canon does in mirrorless. Cine cameras is a different story, but for stills and hybrid video It’s not my brand. And maybe those aren’t the core specs. We will perhaps know a lot more in about 12 hours. But if the screen shots turn out to be accurate, then the R1 will need to know how to tap dance or some such thing to get much attention in the current market. It will be interesting to see what they have cooked up after all this time.

Sorry Andrea, but you have never used the A9III in a real world situation. I shot more than 40000 shots and never ever had the feeling I needed a mechanical shutter. I am sports and concert photographer. Just tell me, what your certain situations are, where you need a mechanical shutter.

This won't push Sony to update the a1. This camera isn't in the same category as the a1 . . . or the a9iii. Canon seems to be falling back into the malaise of a few years ago.

The A1 doesnt't shoot full frame high quality 4k video. Just pixel binned and full of artifacts. Just facts. Quite pathetic for a flagship.

The higher end Nikons have much better sensors than the new z63. The same will be the case with this new canon camera.

Z6iii has the worst dynamic range and shadow recovery what are you talking about? 😂. Too much grain when shooting in low light. Also made in China, while Canon is made in Japan. Huge deal. With canon you get Quality cameras and their lenses actually come with a nice lens pouch unlike Nikon you just get a black plastic bag. Overall Canons R50 has better autofocus and better value.

I’m as big of a Canon “fanboy” as there is. And this would be a ginormous let down. How hard is it to make a low noise 24MP sensor that shoots high speed? Canon took the easy way out on this one.

What has Canon been doing the last couple years... sleeping! as these specs are no better than their previous pro offerings. I am shocked that it is only 24mp they have been stuck on that pixel count for 6-8 years now it seems. This will not sell well except for the folks who need to look cool by buying the latest "R1" lol. Nikon's 2 yr old Z9 blows this new offering away!

Hugely underwhelming! Not much better than Nikon Z6III. No match to Nikon Z9. SUCK!!! Not to mention a1 II that can use the same sensor but with better image processor and data bus to outperform Z9. How can it rival Sony a9III

Sony A1II will just kill the market of professional cameras for the next 5 years if they KEEP stacked sensor (please, no global sensor!) and just add AI functions from A7RV, +2 stops of IBIS as A9III, maybe add pre-capture of 50 fps doesnt need to be 120..., and that's it! It will be a masterpiece.

If they manage to do global shutter without any noise or dynamic range downsides, then I would strongly prefer having global shutter. But I agree that it doesn’t need 120fps RAW. 50 fps would be enough. Actually I don’t see myself upgrading if it doesn’t have global shutter. Auto focus could be better, but it is good enough for me. Editing more and more images in HDR, what I really want is more dynamic range. It has stayed about the same since the first A7. So ideally I want both global shutter and more dynamic range.

@@motionblurgamer That's why my vote is to keep stacked sensor, when we can see the A9III is a test of "how it will work, check what customers opinion will be, check sales, and maybe leave more time to work on noise reduction" but I don't think they did anything to improve that over a 12 months, even 18 months, it's a physics - my opinion.

Andrea? How no mechanical shutter for global shutter is a problem? Mechanical shutter caps at 1/8000s vs INSTANT 0ms. Sounds like an apologistic approach.

Global makes mechanical shutter obsolete so ya I don't get that either. I still want mechanical as I will never own global lol

The dynamic range takes a hit compared to traditional mechanical shutters. Also if you shoot with very fast aperture lenses at higher shutter speed the bokeh look less pleasant. The global shutter offers insane speed which is crucial for sports and wildlife photography but can't offer the ultimate picture quality. In most cases, the image quality is more than good enough though. You don't always have to push shadows and highlights in post that much anyway, if you get the exposure right. Probably in the future, we will have a camera with A7r5's picture quality and A9iii's speed. 😄

@@nabayan3897 I think it would need 2-layer transistor tech by Sony on current top end phones to add more dynamic range and color depth. But that with a rolling shutter we might see 17-18 stops of dynamic range natively instead of RED's 2 video exposure mix at only 24-30fps. Also the hit on dynamic range is extremely minimal, and a9III has more dynamic range than any Canon right now. Nikon and the rest are using Sony sensors so the comparison is worthless.

Gotta love how so many folks complain about a Camera that first, they would never Buy regardless of Brand and Second, don't seem to understand the concept of Niche Market Products. The Canon R5ii is what Canon is mostly banking on, not R1. Nor are cameras in this Price Range regardless of Brand selling like Hot Cakes.
