We used to call these snow days. The trouble is people ignore them and keep trying to travel. School closure was a regular deal when I was a kid. It took a few days to plow out, and you carried on. You don’t go out driving in harsh winter conditions!

10 cm is not a huge dump. This sounds way worse than the storm was.

As a Canadian, this is just a little blizzard... we're use to this. I rememer driving Quebec to Montreal in a Real Snow Storm , couldn't see 2 feet in front of me! The problem is people think they're invincible and drive just a few km/h under the speed limit... when common sense is to drive no more than 25km/h with hazards lights on and if people aren't happy just pass on 😅😅

I use to just love snow storms in north western Ontario. Jumped into my 4x4 truck and drove around looking for people who needed help. Had a blast at it.

Seriously. The reporting is hysterical. It's normal & used to be much worse in the 70's & 80's with. snow drifts reaching the bottoms of the traffic lights. Some winters felt like they started in late October freezing by Halloween & not lifting with the last snow until June. We had lived their & in N. America fore 30 + years of our lives but couldn't endure the winters any longer... the extremely short grey dull winter days & leafless trees, monochromatic colours for months on end the long nights..walking home from school as a kid with just your eyes showing minus zero temps dark by 4:30 & until nearly 8 in the morning. Seriously I don't know how people do it. Not good with the rising electric & energy costs. All the best. Stay warm ! Enjoy those 3 months of nice weather !

My first knowledge of heavy snowfall was in 1944 or 1945. I was in kindergarten and my father went out early to shovel the driveway so he could go to work. He came in exhausted and sweating. Asked Mom to call the office to say he would be in late. No one answered. She worried how I could walk to school since sidewalks were blocked and snow piles were above my head. At last they heard that most places were closed for the day and plows were doing their best. I thought it was exciting and my grandmother could not remember anything to equal it and she had lived her whole life in Toronto.

When people are asked to stay home , they should be listening to what they are told to do in these situations. Hard to clear roads and get emergency vehicle's through without causing more headaches. I don't think the storms we have now are as bad as they used to be though.

Plain and simple if you don't need to go out use common sense, if you're stuck at work try to stay at work as long as you can. I drive a F150 4x4 equipped with emergency set up and the only time I would go out is to help someone in need. Driving a 4x4 truck in a snowstorm is very different because it's higher from the ground, a car lower to the ground, a suv is a bit higher. People tend to forget about all of this and don't change their driving abilities. Drive safe.

We’re used to it. Makes travelling difficult if not impossible. If it’s that bad, stay home. It beats having an accident, freezing etc. It’s winter and it snows in winter. Get over it. We’re lucky it wasn’t freezing rain as well … 🇨🇦🦫🇨🇦
