For $800-900 it might be a good B camera for my a6700 any higher than that and I would rather save up a few more bucks and buy a used FX-30. The best thing about the ZV-E10 was the size and the price. Like you said the market is flooded with $1200-1500 cameras that have better options. The question is will Sony add something that we have not seen before like they did with the ZV-E10 and the ZV-E1?

The a6700 is already available for around $1200 or less in a few different places. They better keep the price low or there will be no reason for the camera to exist other than pushing more people towards the mark 1 or a6700

First introduction to your channel - this was a really solid video and I really appreciate everything you went through - I didn't realize some of the things it isn't going to have... The new battery is going to be wonderful though. Honestly I don't even use my ZV-E10 because the battery is always dying on me. My A6700 seems to run forever and I can focus on capturing the moment instead of capturing another changed battery!!!

@Mihu04 This is actually from SmallRig, but of course, Amazon carries them. I got one for all my cameras actually. The one for the Sony ZV-E10 Mark 1 that I have is now marked unavailable but B&H Photo has them on special order only. Looks like all other similar base plates are also back ordered as well. They may re-list them soon as Mark 2 drops.

$1200 !!!!! Just spend $200 more and get the a6700. My guess is that it will come with the new menu system. $800 would be the sweet spot for an entry camera, any more than that if I was a vlogger I would look at getting the DJI Pocket 3.

Yeah, that’ll be an easy step up to go with the a6700. $800 would be a jaw dropper and a steal, here’s to hoping, but $1k+ will get folks eyes looking at other options. Completely forgot about the Pocket 3, another great vlogging option.

@seanryne Usually, it's to have one body design and feature set for photo/hybrid creators and one for video. It's consistent the Alpha line as well, hence the A7R (for photo, R for Resolution) and A7S line of cameras (for video, S for Sensitivity (aka light sensitivity in video)). So, it's only somewhat new and recent for the APS-C lineup in these last few years.

@@DianaGladney Maybe, but I agree with your statements in the video about the competition and lack of recent lenses without stab. As far as a gimbal--I bought the Crane M3 for the ZV-E10. It works great, but I hate using it. Gimbals are for videographers, not vloggers and content creators. Catalyst is great also, but the free version only allows for 8-bit, 100mbps bit rate. Digital stab is always going to be limited by the crop. There has to be a crop. IBIS offers so many advantages, I just can't ignore it any more. If it truly doesn't have IBIS, I may go A6700 or out of the Sony Ecosystem.

Creators aren’t interested in holding a gimbal for basic everyday content creation when they need a better stabilized shot when vlogging or just creating. I’m hoping there’s an enhanced Stabe option or they’ve seriously improved the digital stabe.

Great video, and was actually waiting for this announcement since I was mulling over between the e-10 and Fx30 (wanting an upgrade from a ZV-1F) For 4k/120 would the ZV-E10 chassis even support that heat-wise? The ZV-E10 has burst shooting for some light photography + product showcase mode, but on the other hand has a fan for cooling 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫. If they hadn't removed burst shooting from the FX3 to the FX30, this would be a much easier choice 😅😅 albeit pricier.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video! Yeah, the a6700 will definitely be just that if there's minor updates in the Mark 2. I, like many others, are hoping it's a mini ZV-E1, but we shall see. Thankfully, the a6700 exists for folks to grab. That or the FX30 is they really want a dynamite APS-C video body.

I'm kinda excited by this, but I'll probably still be going for the a6700 as my backup camera to my FX30, just so that I have a better hybrid for travel. My real hope is that we can soon get a ZV-1 Mk.3 with 10bit 4k 24p, which should be feasible given that phones can do it, the DJI Pocket 3 can do it... etc.

@ravicholachagudda5912 Yep, since it's the same from the FX30 and a6700. I would expect that performance to be exact. Now, if the leaked spec of no IBIS is correct, it'll seem like it's worse rolling shutter because the impacts are more pronounced since there's nothing to help smooth it out. I would imagine they've improved the digital stabe, so the final result we'll have to wait and see.

As an amateur vlogger, I've been using the zv1 mark2, and am ready to upgrade. I almost bought the zv e10 but decided to wait for the zv e10 mk2. If all comes out as you say, I think I'll look at the 6700. You are absolutely right, i dont mind spending a few dollars, but when i do, I'd like to get something that justifies the cost. I'm excited to see this new ZV e10 ii. I have the ZV1 "1 sensor" which is good except for things like the battery which does last very long. An APS-C camera with interchangeable lenses. 👍🏻 Showcase mode and bokeh mode. Very nice. Later today can't wait. 😊

Great analysis. I'm still looking for B cam for my A7IV. And ZV-E10mk2 seems like the best bet. I like it has bigger battery, so I can share batteries from my A7IV. 10 bit 4:2:2 SLOG (I wonder if codes will be the same). I do no care about IBIS or Dynamic Active, but this might be a deal breaker for tons of people. But if the price is $1299, that camera does not make sense to me. This will be ~$1600€ with VAT in EU. Crazy. I would rather buy another A7IV (used or wait for the promo). Seems 1 more day to know the real specs and price :D

Maybe just save up for the fx30 Zv-e1. that $1200 price tag will have folks considering all sorts of stuff like used gear, Black Magic cameras, Lumix GH series, or even just sticking with the zv-e10 and spending money on a gimbal, some lights, some wireless lav mics, a subscription to a music service. . .

I'd guess that it will have the same features as the a6700 with a lot of the menu system disabled. In other words they'll disable a few features by just not showing them in the menu. Just my two cents. Than later on they can update and turn on some of the disabled features. Good video. Thanks.

Thanks Mitch, glad you enjoyed the video! I honestly don't put much stock in Sony and firmware updates unless it's like the ZV-E1 and announced that it's already planned at launch. If not, I operate from the standpoint that what you buy is what you get. I've yet to see them update an APS-C body for creators or hybrid users to add features to stay competitive, can't see them changing that, but I hope to be wrong in that regard. People would love that!

This was a dope video Diana. I just bought the Lumix S9 for the very same reasons you list... plus the IBIS.. Chef's Kiss... I mean no gimbal Chef's Kiss. Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video! Considering we haven't had any more leaked info yet means either the person leaking the info doesn't have the camera and passing hearsay. Either that, or they're holding off extra details until tomorrow to have a greater impact for embargo videos. The thing is Sony has the existing line up with a non-IBIS camera body (being the Mark 1), which is why the expectation is to have IBIS in this one. An unfortunate reality if it does, but I'm still holding out hope.

@prestigequickcod You know, it's gotta be a situation going around with some of the models having a defect. I've had several people ask me about various issues and then when I got this other ZV-E10, the first one had a defect issue. So, I don't know what that's about. It's only a recent thing. So, running into that issue since this new one is coming out will work in your favor. If you still want one to replace that one, you'll be able to get it at a cheaper price.

@prestigequickcod Ah okay. I've had that happen before with a lens and I just did a quick swap after notifying and Amazon took care of it. In my experience, they've been great with swapping you out and letter you chose a different model if you wanted to stay used. You can still get refurbished and it'll likely be fine. Sometimes you catch the odd model.

Yeah, I am REALLY hoping there's some serious improvements with the active stabe or the fact it has Dynamic Active hasn't leaked yet and it'll be a happy surprise on release day. Hopefully, there are a few other surprises new to market to make the camera even more enticing, so we hope.

I don't care about stabilizing clips in post. Fits my content. I need better rolling shutter performance. If that's not better, I'll pass and put the money towards 6700 upgrade.

You know, that'll be the weird thing with the camera. Rolling shutter looks worse when the stabe is worse because there's nothing to help it reduce jitters on top of the image as it scans the sensor. The rolling shutter will be the exact same as the a6700 and FX30 since it's the same sensor, but unless they do something awesome with the digital stabe, it's a chance it'll look worse. But, we'll see how it looks once the embargo videos drop.

a6700 stabilization is excellent as long as you use Sony lenses. Active Steadyshot just doesn't work with third party lenses, but with Sony wide angle lenses, it basically makes a gimbal irrelevant.

@@fabianlehr4318 But the standard stabilization is not great and the Active Stabilization requieres Sony lenses and also makes it crop to like (1.65x) and we're on a APS-C sensor and still not as good as the Panasonic one. Not knocking on the a6700, I tried i swear but ended up getting a Lumix, it also overheats and shutdowns on me all the time.

However, considering they have the e a6700 and FX30 and more entry-level full frame cameras, all the brands have som some APS-C body with no IBIS. Only problem is that's already the Mark 1, so the Mark 2 to advance the lineup. We'll see what tomorrow holds.

This is most certainly NOT a $1,000+ camera in today's market. Should be no more than $800 if specs you suggest are real. I can live without the mechanical shutter (already do with FX30), but no IBIS is just absurd at that price point.

@RandumbTech Yeah, the mechanical shutter means zero to me since I rarely take photos outside of thumbnails. However, since it was already in the camera, it's a weird cripple to remove it unless it's going to take more after the FX30. I'm really hoping something is included to still get that "wow" factor or that the specs were off. The price is one of those things I'm hoping is off and is lower, not more.

Except for the absence of two SD cards, everything else about the a6700 is already APSC's top high-performance model. It is unlikely that there will be new features in the ZVE10-II at the moment, so there is a good chance that it will only have half the features of the a6700, but the price will also be half.

Nah, not necessarily. A harder sell, yes, but there's always the greater market that don't care about some things and will buy the camera regardless because it checks enough of the right boxes for what they want. Think of the ZV-1F, if any camera should have been dead in the water, it would have been that one, but it still sells well. Once we're past the initial release grumblings, we'll see what's what. But, regular camera enthusiasts that were looking forward to this release will be disappointed if the leaked specs don't have anything else missing or some surprise features. So, we shall see.

I have the ZV-E10 which doesn't overheat. The battery only lasts about 50 minutes or so but I have plugged in a powerbank and recorded for 2 hours before (4K 25fps 8-bit 4.2.0 100Mbps). If the MK.II can get the same results in 10-bit 4.2.2, I will get it. Otherwise, not much of an upgrade for my use case. It'll still be a great camera for other people. We'll find out in a few more days as I'm sure reviewers will run overheat tests.

​​@@hellounclesimman, my camera(a6400) and yours run 27ms in 4k with 8bit readouts , we dont get to complain , the only thing slower than our sensor is the xt5/xh2's 40mp. The a6700/xs20/xt3/xt4 runs at 15ms in 4k at 10bit, you dont get to complain unless you realize how severe the increase in power usage it is, and yes going from 8 to 10bit can almost double a camera's readout speed. So it has to go from 25 to 15 , and then do it while doing 10 bit - as a reflection , our sensor would prob have to do around 35-40ms of rolling shutter to readout at 10bit. And as a comparison , the a7s3 has 9ms

@hellounclesim That's honestly a given with the market right now. Unless there's a fan built-in, a cap on the recording like the with the Lumix S9 and older Canon cameras, the manufacturers have not gotten past the point where 4k and 6k 10-bit video processing can be done in a smaller camera without overheating. There are even some with the FX3 that'll tell you they've had issues even with the fan built-in that some codecs still can cause overheating. So, unless it's a larger camera with better heat dissipation built-in and fan, expect it in nearly all cameras. The reason the ZV-E10 Mark 1 doesn't have that issue like newer 10-bit cameras is because back in the a6300, 6500, and Sony A9 Mark 1 era they finally hit the tail end of the camera overheating in 8-bit and was able to fix it. Hence why there's the high heat mode setting now; the tech finally caught up to avoid the issue. But, turn that setting off and you'll see it's actually not truly "fixed" where overheating is zero concern with it off and all handled in camera. It isn't, it's managed better now via firmware is all. The higher resolution and higher bitrate recording in new cameras reintroduced that same old problem of higher video specs and camera bodies that don't handle it well without some kind of cooling system. So, the result is either buy a camera and buy a camera fan, or buy one with the fan built-in for a premium. There's no getting around that right now. Not until a new Sony video flagship hits the streets where they put all the latest and best tech they have in the camera _then_ we'll see it slowly trickle down to the lower end models, just like they did with 10-bit recording.

@andrescarrasco1248 Oh man, I can't call in the Canon cripple hammer on the camera just yet lol. We gotta wait to see what the final result is on release. All brands have a cheaper, no IBIS camera, but considering this is the Mark 2, the Mark 1 already fills those shoes. We shall see though!

@jenavlogs11 You know, surprisingly, having the a6700 vs the ZV-E1 and those same ZV type features missing from the a6700, I'd still go with the ZV lineup. If video creation is the go-to, not hybrid stuff, the ZV line has those extra bits that make video easier. The a6700 is still a beast and never a bad choice.

Also a touchscreen? Lol. Sony can't provide a touchscreen. Literally a 18 year old technology. Like touchscreen could go from infant to college by now and Sony can't put a touchscreen? Cannon on their M50 from years ago had a touchscreen ( their equivalent to the Sony Zv-E10, just older ). Same with Ibis, an old technology even Go Pros have used with their tiny form factor and censors. Ok, so if you already own a sony Zv-e10 Mark 1 and you're just concerned with video ( I own a Samsung Ultra S24; Samsung's best phone and best camera on a phone ), is it worth to upgrade to a Mark II? Like most people, I don't know how to color grade. So far as Luts go, I'd be using paid Luts from other people. So does that even matter for the Mark II versus the Mark 1? Thanks Edit: I am happy that there is a Mark 2 for new people, but kinda ticked off because I just opened my Zv-E10 Mark 1 just 5 months ago and feel a little burned. It cost me $900 for the kit lens and the automatic handheld tripod combo.

@derekroberts5931 lol Yeah, a touch screen and new menu is a given. That's coming in all the new camera bodies moving forward. The thing with video is what your needs are differs from what you'll see saying "you need" in a camera on KZbin. So, you have to turn off the blind recommendations solely off KZbin creator perspectives, mine included. Sit back and look at what you plan to use your camera for right out the gate, your day in and day out use cases. Then, look at the things you'd only do once a month to once every few months and what goals you have with your content you expect this camera to serve for you. Let that list dictate what you actually need and should care about in a camera. From that list of what kind of videos you intend to create, the type of stuff you know would annoy you over time (as best you can) and features you want your camera to have that will make creating easier for you. The good thing is you've had your camera for five months and can better justify what that's like. I had similar thoughts about color grading and a ton of other stuff when I first bought a camera and didn't even know how to make a good video without it lol. So, I tabled that thought for a while and focused on being a better creator. There's nothing wrong with learning color grading and all that, but that was one of those things that became a distraction for me, I eventually put down for later vs a month 1 problem to solve. So, you didn't lose anything buying what you have because now you can make an educated decision about what you want, dislike, and what you know you need. Sometimes the hard answer is you don't need the latest new thing, you just want it. Then, at that point decide if you simply want something else. If you find you do have other needs you hit faster in the ceiling of creating every week, see if it makes sense for you to swap out for something else. Then, you can look it to trade in your camera body towards the new thing at nearly all camera shops I'm aware of. Call the cost in difference of price an experience cost. Plus, you've had the camera since then and could make content with it so the value offset is worth it vs waiting 5 months. That'd be my initial thoughts on the issue you mentioned.

That's okay if that was your experience based on how you create. The cool thing is you tried it, found out what was right for you, and got that camera that best serves you. That's the awesome thing with having various models, we're spoiled for options.
