Great work Steve being honest and repairing the appliance. Mikey would have sold them a new boiler that they didn’t need. I don’t believe in selling customers things they don’t need.

Here in the UK we have a nipple on our gas meters which we connect our gauge upto. Open the main gas cock and pressurise the pipe work and appliances to a specific pressure and leave for 2minutes.. if the pressure drops then we shut off one appliance at a time then re test.. (if its an appliance thats passing then we can disconnect that appliance) until we just test the pipework. If it fails, we are allowed to cap the gas off at the meter..

my approach is simple stock in my truck common items i use offen any item i might need , saves me time having to run and get parts also saves customer money in labor cost .i must admit i have stuff in truck i would probley never use on jobs .but o well ,someday i will need it .. sure enough that 1 job in 10 years .i say i have that in my truck .prices of stuff only goes up .so having a well stocked truck is better then money in the bank .

Im the same way. I have about $10k worth of stock in my truck. If i use my last one, i make a note and buy another one. If i need something and i dont have it, i buy 2. I markup my parts 100% so its not costing me anything to buy another one. Like Steve says, cost of parts only goes up. At this point, its pretty rare that I dont have what i need in my van, unless im working on a new high efficiency gas piece of crap like Steve says

alittle grit or crud under operator. thoses valves used to be cheaper when that cardboard box was made hope you called supply house and charged them current price on that valve.... parts and labor make the price of a replacement unit look good$$$might need a cyclone vent cap if they are getting lots of wind causing a little roll out.......

We have tighter regulations on gas installations in England. We must test the whole house gas supply with manometer to see if there's a leak ANYWHERE before starting any job which involves gas because the engineer is responsible for any leaks throughout the house that are left after his visit, this covers his ass also.

I always wondered why aluminum and no copper on pilot lines? Work hardening?
@alanm28423 жыл бұрын
when copper gets hot it oxidizes, flakes off black stuff on inside and outside of tube clogging the pilot up. copper is ok if away from heat. in some parts of usa copper is common for gas piping. but not pilot lines

I was happy he got there as it was Friday and I was going out of state for 3 days. Next morning unit down and I get called. I called a/c company and they couldn't come out till the day I came back to work. Guy figures out what is wrong and starts with one excuse after another. I told him I wasn't upset he made a mistake. I'm pissed because you keep making excuses! Everyone I know has made a wrong move at one time or another. No biggie as long as you take care of it. Good video Steven!
