This is happening everywhere in the United States, the corruption in this country is unbelievable. The general public should hold the ones responsible, for maintaining these cemeteries & make them fix the problems & pay up !!! They receive money from state & federal governments for this type of problem. The money is there, so is the corruption. I feel for the people who have love ones interred there. I hope that the problem will be resolved in a fair & just manner. We as a civilized nation, can do better & act with responsibility to resolve this issue. Kevin Phoenix

@satinbarbi

I was thinking the same thing. There is nothing final about being put into what is nothing but a hole in a wall of a building that will one day rot and collapse. At least with a traditional burial you can be fairly certain that the grave will go undisturbed for a few centuries. By the time it is disturbed by new building on the site or whatever the body will be nothing but the dust of a person with no family left. I never understood why people choose to be shoved into a hole in a wall. Do they think it will make their body last forever?

On this form, I have seen abandoned mosuliems that were broken into, or neglected and you can see that the casket lids are popped open to a certain extent, or, the casket, which was made of metal, had rust on it,or holes in it just as you would see a car or truck have holes in the body of the vehicle, or if your in a junkyard, you would see rust taking over the vehicle completely, leaving a very thin layer of metal that was once was either a car or truck. So it is the same with metal caskets as they begin to rust and deteriorate completely out only after the dead body encased within them has essentially has already been completely deteriorated.

The cemetery I'm going to be buried in charges a percentage for endowment cost above the price of burial which, in of in itself, is not a bad idea, it goes to the upkeep and repairs in such cases and the endowment money cannot be diverted to anything other than for the upkeep and repairs.
@pianomanhere
@pianomanhere 2 жыл бұрын
That is a very sound arrangement because this guarantees ongoing financing for maintenance, and thus less likelihood for the property to lapse into squalor, neglect and abandonment. In lieu of this, either an endowment or a fund for perpetual care would need to be established. Also this arrangement seems more likely to prevent the disgrace and disrespect for the dead that we see in other examples of mausoleum abandonment, ESPECIALLY with the Roger Williams Mausoleum in Cranston, Rhode Island as the most recent egregious example of this.

@@FissionChips So what happens if someone quits or doesn't want to pay rent anymore? Are they to be evicted like the third world countries do? Somewhere down the line, family will either die out or not concern themselves with the rent on previous generations. It's also not fair to burden them with payments into perpetuality. That would be worse than a time share.
@terryburns1805

@@danielspencer1827 This is in reply to David Charles. Why should the taxpayers have to pay? My family has always been too poor to afford a mausoleum interment for our loved ones, so why should I have to pay to take care of the rich people's loved ones, especially if their rich family doesn't care about their own late loved ones? So, I guess it's the same in Death as in Life, "If you can't or don't pay, you don't stay". I didn't make the rules, the rich landlords did a long time ago.
@danielspencer1827
@danielspencer1827 2 жыл бұрын
@@terryburns1805 It is unfortunate that it falls on the taxpayer when this happens but, when these people bought the mausoleum space, they either paid a perpetual care fee at that time, or should have paid a perpetual fee that is supposed to be in a trust to pay for repairs. Too many funeral places sold these spaces and either went bankrupt, sold the business, or they died and left all these families in a bind. Even with State safeguard of funds, it seems that most places don't do a good job of managing costs or, they severely miscalculated the future costs to provide perpetual care and barely have enough to cover some repairs. They sure like selling those mausoleum spaces but, don't seem too concerned with making sure the residents have the care they need. It sucks that taxpayers have to pick up the tab but what else are you going to do if there is no family to pay for moving the departed to the ground? I have watched many, many videos of these places and can say it is horrifying when this happens. There is one in NJ. I think that was declared abandoned by a judge and neither the state or the local government is wanting to do anything about it. They have buried some people but, people have broken in and opened caskets and robbed jewelry and just dumped these people out on the ground. Personally, I think they shouldn't be allowed to build and sell these things period. At some point, it will fall apart. When you think about it, 100 years in nothing in time and is probably 75 years more than most of those buildings will last before major repairs are needed. You can't have everyone leave while you make repairs, that just isn't feasible.
@Timbrock1000

ALL THE MORE REASON NOT TO BUY A SPOT IN A MAUSOLEUM. Whether for your ( future) use, or for a loved one, buying a space in a mausoleum is a waste of money. As a structure, they require upkeep and maintaince As they age, the costs increase. Plus, what condition will it be in 20 years? In 30 years? 50 years? 100 years? Forget that. Just do what people have done for thousands of years, buy a burial plot. A plot is far far less expensive, it requires no major maintance, is easily accessible by anyone, will outlast a mausoleum.

And this is why flat roofs are not a good idea unless it's overlapping fibreglass. The best thing to do really would be to rebuild the roof from scratch with a new non-flat design. As for the financial problems, crowdfunding might be one way to sort it.

I build these for a living and a flat roof is normal. It's not actually flat though, it has a mild slope. The caulk needs to be ripped out and redone and the concrete needs a fresh coat of rubberized sealer. $20k and I can do a permanent fix. Take less than two weeks.

We must quite building mausoleums! If you don't understand why, please research Rhode Island and their ridiculous mess. There is NEVER money to maintain these things within 70 years or less, and then they are leaking everywhere and falling apart. Rhode Island problems are at the worse end of human disrespect. Looters are robbing the dead and scattering remains with no regard for the victims there. It is a problem everywhere with these structures, don't put your loved ones there. Any graveyard or mausuleum have a lots of good things in it. Specially its a place where the mosts plus point is its area or usage. It have the mosts fertile land and its bests for any good things to carry out. Few rules can be brought and a graveyard can be transformed into a house of all afterlife stars. Every humans knows it that they have to leave the earth and its no other better place for any better things. Its a mausuleum and place with lots of great personalities many loved people and their emotions towards their caring people. Its a place where heaven and hell meet together and the afterlife decisions are being sprouted here only. Its required to know that which are the things which can transform a graveyard into a bests possible gadget to transform into. For leakages what can be ddone is to fill up the holes or doing cementing coating on its roof. Its better to give some chemicals on its making which can stop the water from leaking. Thankyou.
