Do you know what? I love that you are so realistic. I would be so grumpy at having to move all that stuff, but just get on and do it. I would probably enjoy having a reason to be a cutting a hole in the ceiling cursing ( once again) the cowboys who did the “renovations” in the 70s/80s. You may not realise, but you are a bit of a Poster Girl for all the little girls who watch, you both tackle everything you can. You do things PROPERLY-demonstrating by example. You are honest, showing things in real time with warts and all. You get tired and frustrated and bothered- which is why I love your channel. It’s so relatable. I think it's the seal around the chimney. we had to repoint ours and tar/flashing around it. glad Puss puss is "fixed" and home. my boy did the same thing when he got home from the vet....he ran around the whole house to check everything was the same. we are sheltering a feral on our porch. he is the most appreciative cat. he thinks he is at the waldorf astoria for cats. food morning and night, warm 'hut" to sleep in. You ladies are amazing. I don't know about your area but there is a product called" liquid rubber" that will prob stop the leaks around your chimney.

Is that chimney in use? That period before Christmas was challenging weather-wise for old buildings in Scotland. The sudden change from cold through to warm stormy conditions caused a huge amount of condensation as old, cold walls suddenly met warm damp air. Also, old chimneys tend to be coated in years of accumulated sulphorous soot, which is very hygroscopic. Unused chimneys in warm damp conditions can literally run with water. I wonder if the combination of the cold to warm shift and the salts in the chimney may be the ultimate source of your damp gable. Pointing and reflaunching the chimney can't hurt, but it might not be the only necessary step in a solution. At least you showed that there is very little evidence of actual leaks in your roof!

That’s correct Alex, they don’t stitch because they make a very small incision in the sack and squeeze the contents out and snip the attachments and done! The poor females however have to go under general anaesthesia and be intubated and operated on. A lot more dangerous and they can get aspiration pneumonia and die, plus recovery takes longer and is more painful. Oh to be a boy!
