Man thanks to this exact video I fixed mine today, my bulkhead was leaking and it had play in it, I cleaned it and the inside of tank, got a gasket ring because it didn't have one and used a bit of dap seal safe for aquariums and bam it's sealed now and sturdy again! Thanks man

After taking off the bulkhead. I noticed a hard tube like crustaceans throughout my overflow filters. These vermetid snails grew underneath the gasket enough to form a drip. I scraped the crustaceans, cleaned the bulkheads and replaced the gasket. (This time I put a bead of aquarium silicon in there for a better hold) 🙏🏾

1. Spray paint pvc - just no. it will crust over quickly, just be patient. You can silicone some live rock rubble on it if you want. 2. Teflon tape on all threads, with the exception of the bulkhead where it's not required. 3. Everything hand tighten. Most common failure point is over tightening or gasket pliability. 4. Best case, use a schedule 80 bulkhead if you have the room, otherwise schedule 40. 5. Heavy dose of silicon lubricant on the gasket. 6. Salt creep = leakage. This needs to be fixed asap, disaster waiting to happen. Undo the joint, inspect the gaseket, if dried out then lubricate. If grooved or damaged at all due to over tightening replace! 7. Gasket ALWAYS goes on the inside. It's not easy to admit your mistakes, I commend you! Thanks for sharing! I hope my comments help you and others. :c)

Thank you, lots of lessons learned since a year ago! Re: spray paint pvc - So far the spray paint pvc is holding up ok and I have not heard anything bad from spraying painting them though, did you hear otherwise?

The simple answer is that water is a solvent, so it will dissolve the paint. There may be some specialized formula that's appropriate, ie rubber spray. If you find something like that I'll research with you as that will be good to know. You might give schedule 80 pipe a look, which is gray and more appealing visually until it crusts over.

The rubber gasket is missing. It should go on the wet side.

I dont think u should use spray paint or reef tank parts

Devon Smith There's a specific type of black paint that reefers use (name escaped me, I have it in another video), seems to do well for people and OK over here so far..

I thought everyone knew a rubber gasket goes between the 2 and inside. But I guess not.
