A clover nozzle like that was used for years as the injection nozzle on AquaC skimmers. Nice DIY hack!

Yea I definitely couldn’t see that aquascape but now with the scoly corals it looks great. And the colors are super nice.

This is excellent advice. I've not been able to fully use my return pump cause the tubing from the DT to the sump isn't wide enough to allow for that turn over. I went ahead and did a clover nozzle straight after watching this video, it allows me to use another 15 % power on my return and increased the over all flow in the aquarium quite a lot. Thanks!

You are an awesome mentor. Awesome idea. I am wondering if I use this technique in my refugium if it would translate to less water and more tumbling of Chaeto. Right now my refugium is feed by a 3/4 inch pipe that is divided in two, at the bottom of the refugium, which are flared. The water travels about 20 inches until it hits the first baffle and it is making my Chaeto spin. However, I have to pump a lot of water to make it happen. If I clover the pipes, I am assuming that less water will send more force. My system is a 1500 (thanks to you Jake) with an external refugium located in the chiller section of the stand. The refugium and UV are sourced from the main sump and deliver back to the main sump. While the UV and refugium are sourced with a single DC EcoTech pump, they do not use the same water. What do you think about me clover-ing the refugium supply lines?

"The refugium and UV are sourced from the main sump and deliver back to the main sump. While the UV and refugium are sourced with a single DC EcoTech pump, they do not use the same water..." How is this possible.... If they're "sourced" from the same place, it's the same water....

So flow speed is different from the force of the flow on the coral? I am trying to lessen the force of the flow blasting a couple corals a little too hard will this fix that or make it worse?

Yellow tangs definitely look better in the flow of a clover nozzle 😉
@Mike__B3 жыл бұрын
I've done something similar in the past with a PVC reducer just without the cloverness aspect of it. That said, isn't that why you put pumps in the tank? I mean not too many people run with just the return output as the tank flow do they? I mean I've seen people with those all in one tanks still use pumps in the tank, maybe even something tiny like that mini Nero that you have in the scoly tank.

I used this hack when I just started my reeftank, years ago because the other nozzles were so expensive(for just a piece of plastic). It’s still working perfectly today. How about doing this with a clear acrylic pipe?

This has nothing to do with the video but any chance you can do a walk through on how to use the kessil app for the AP9X? love your videos and hoped maybe you had more experience programming in the app.

I did this and wow what a difference; had to take water out of the tank, diffuse it, and remove the grate fence on the overflow it works too well!!!
@sovereignviper903 жыл бұрын
Couldn't you use those to make a diy eductor? In theory leaving some of the crimping exposed on the back end to allow more water to enter through the back and be mixed with return flow. This is just my 8 o'clock one cup of coffee thinking lol
