Thanks for checking out this Snap-on jack restoration! I bought this for $120 off of Fb Marketplace. With the jack, parts, paint, and jack oil, I have about $383 or so into this. Was it worth it? I really like the way it turned out. Let me know what you think! Thanks for watching. I do appreciate it! I bought the same jack from the dealer for $200 used. It lasted me 39 years before taking a shit. The hydraulic unit was called a "power unit" to the tune of 600 bucks! Went to the local rubber and gasket company and spent $56 for seals and made the nylon pump seal. Works like a charm.

Awesome restoration! I'm a retired mechanic who now restores old farm tractors. There's something about restoring equipment. We live in a disposable society where its easier to throw away and buy new. The trouble is that probably 2/3s of folks would have thrown this jack away and got a new one. This jack is just as good as new and you got the satisfaction of restoring it. Great job!

I also have the exact same jack, found mine in a scrap metal pile for $3. Did spend about $200 having a hydraulic machine shop rebuild the cylinder. One mod I had to do was remove the nubs that hold the saddle side supports to the jack body, drilled out to 1/2 inch and replaced with heavy duty bolts. Bought an oem handle brand new on ebay when I found one come up. Thing is an absolute beast, easily lifts my Hondas 2 feet off the ground without sweat. I feel one restored and painted like yours is easily worth a few thousand dollars, as they are true industrial grade and last a very long time. Thank you for the video.

One item there was a change to the oil reservoir when you put it on turn it off center of the oil release hole approximately 7 to 10 degrees. When you lower the jack, the oil will or can come out through the vent. I made this change back in approximately 1995 and applied at the factory on the new models. Well done ✅

it used to be that way in America . you built a brand over many many years . the great names became world famous for their quality. any company that discounts the workers is not a worthwhile company. the ultimate point of a premium brand is you buy it and never think twice. you do not waste energy comparing and testing - you spend the money and go on with your work. i bought snap-on combo wrenches for my bike repair shop. loved using them all the time.

Dude for some reason I found this video mesmerizing and I rarely use that term of wording when replying to a video on You Tube . I bet you have at least 50 hours or more into it WOW! GREAT JOB LOVE IT ! Years ago I had and old school Walker American made floor jack I ordered the seal kit but for some reason nothing went right with it I couldn't do the job and I chucked it and went to scrap I cant remember now what it was but something broke when trying to rebuild it . I kick myself in the ass now you cant buy American Made jacks like this anymore

Thanks for the compliment! And probably all of us through stuff away that we should have kept. You will have to look for another used one. I was able to find this particular one on Facebook marketplace. Thanks for reaching out!

I have one of these that I bought brand new off the Snap-On truck in ‘95 and i can tell you this one looks amazingly better, especially the grips on the handle. Still have that jack that I use regularly.

Very impressive that you knew how to take that thing apart bit by bit. Even the small pieces. That’s crazy. And remembering how it went back together. Or watching the video on how you took it apart lol. My favorite is the John 3:16 in the back ground. 👏👏🙌

Beautifully done! No one goes that far looking at the budget. A budget rebuild would've just been new seals and a simple cleaning! Great job!

Nice work restoring this jack. You do very, very good work sir. I don't think you have reached "My Mechanic" level perfection yet but that is an extremely high bar that in time you have the skill and patience to achieve if your want to. You are the first "restoration" channel on YT I've seen so far that is even in the same league as "My Mechanic" so trust me, I mean this comment as a compliment so I hope you will take it that way.

Nice restoration! I liked how you incorporated old vintage Craftsman and SnapOn tools along with some HF. Your vid reminded me of the chisel/punch set that's been in my online cart.

Fantastic!!! I've never seen such an interesting restoration. Also, makes me appreciate the engineering in these jacks. I have the old harbor freight jack, it's no. Snap-on, I'm sure the complexity is similar. Very very cool!!!
