I am going to be doing this today but I have gone threw it with a couple of other companies through the years I have been in manufacturing. One problem I have run into in the past is that our vendors do not want excess inventory in their company for the end of the year during inventory time so they duplicated our kan ban cards and sent us hundreds of a few parts that they made tons of. Other vendors started doing the same thing and we had way too much inventory piled up again. Times are strange now though and we ordered so much inventory because we knew that we may not be able to get any parts from overseas. Now I have a years worth or more of just one part and in some cases it will take years to go through some of the inventory. I am the only person in my company that makes a piece of lab equipment and I have been building this unit for six years now. I build one unit at a time from start to finish. Now my area has a lay out as if there will be more people in it making sub assemblies to kanban and I like the flow, but I am the only person who builds the unit. Am I to build all the subs station to station and then start the final assembly? Are they going to hire more people? I need to get rid of more clutter as I am a hoarder of scrapped parts that I like to invent stuff with or repurpose.
