Wow. I was so inspired by this video. I learned of you from watching The Impatient Gardener. This was informative and personal and made me think so much more about what I want to do in my own space. Loved it!!

Great video, lots to think about. It has given me some vision for a couple new, large flower beds we put in this Spring.

Listening to you talk about your feelings and knowledge about gardening, I am in awe of the beauty of your ideas and words about them. My own garden and working in it gives me understanding of how Nature works and peace and joy in this learning.

Amazing. Huge fan. Question: I understand what you’re saying re: wood mulch but…first year perennial plants can’t cover the soil, so it’s weeds or mulch while the plants develop. What do you suggest during this interim period?

It was such a pleasure chatting with you when I visited Northwind. I’m thankful you recorded your talk so that I didn’t miss out.

Mulch. In moderation. Is fine. Not burying the plants, but covering the soil surface. Leaving the plant crowns unburied. While i Never plan and build a garden with the idea of continuing mulching forever...I want the plants to do the job that mulch does at first. But with new plantings and not mature gardens, it has a place, that is useful. People also love the look of it. Some love it more than plants!
