Kanban System is based mainly on training and people. If you do not train and involve people; you will fail.
4 - Kanban is not a static tool.
Kanban System is not static and has to be maintained periodically.

The implementation of a kanban system for restocking the parts used up in a manufacturing process, requires a calculation of "kanban cards" (which correspond to the number of containers to be used). First, you need verify the amount (quantity of pieces) that can be contained in each container (container capacity). Then you can calculate how many "kanban cards" are needed, with this general rule: daily consumption / container capacity + 1* * = one 'spare' container for uncertainties in supply. The operator (milkrun) replaces each empty container that includes a "kanban card" with part number and the quantity of the parts into it. Using this kanban system you can have a significant improvement in the handling of stock and a lean production.
