I love how the "ooh~" at the beginning sounds kinda like an inversion of the "ooh" in Suneater. It feels like a nice callback to being "just the one who swallowed the moon", in this case realizing that the brightness you had was just a reflection of others' validation ("the only light that i have's just a reflection of you"). And once that validation is stripped away or is given less often as you grow up, you shine less brightly. (RAHHHH I LOVE SONG ANALYSIS)

@@kacipowers4390 yes I've been a fan since least favourite only child all of the connections throughout her songs make it so much more cohesive for example "now I'll walk myself down the aisle, I'll be the parent and THE LEAST FAVOURITE ONLY CHILD" I can't use italics on my phone so I used caps but it's a callback

No don't stop that, the BOCES Young Scholars "gifted" program in my racially-diverse but less wealthy elementary and middle school was an amazing experience teaching me challenging things 2 grade levels above. Everyone in my little class of 7 was diverse in one way or another. Come to think of it, we were probably also all a little autistic. We did not have a "gifted" program in the wealthy school district I moved to for high school because everyone was already doing well since they had more resources. The competition at the top was much more challenging as it is, but maybe that was just high school. I still self-selected into AP classes and Science Research, which got me started doing college-level research in high school. There's no need for people to be labeled as "gifted", it should simply be an opt-in application basis, but there's no need to get rid of these wonderful programs. If you're "no longer gifted", you were probably one of the ones that shouldn't have been selected in the first place. I see the perceived problem, your school district simply selected more people overall and those on the edge of "gifted" got in, while in a poorer district it was far, far more selective (like I said, class of 7 - how many were in yours?)

i was in my gifted program when i was in elementary school and middle school to the point where i even skipped 5th grade because i was so ahead of everyone else, when i got to highschool the way they were teaching changed and since i have adhd/add it didnt work for how my brain works, just because someone is burnt out or the school system only works in one way does not mean that they shouldn’t have been in that program in the beginning, i would cry to my mom everyday because the work was too easy, just because you leave that program doesn’t mean that you should have never been in it in the first place
@EmeraldAshesAudio2 ай бұрын
It's definitely possible for someone to be a good fit for the gifted program as a younger child and then to burn out / become an underachiever later on. As you mentioned, a lot of people in your program were "a little autistic," and autistic burnout can absolutely impact people as they're hitting high school / college / careers. In general, people can be quite intelligent or creative and still be like "Hold up. Why do I feel like I'm not achieving as much as my peers when I was supposed to be the superstar?" once they grow up. That might be them "leveling out" and realizing intelligence isn't everything. Or that one type of intelligence might not translate to other talents. It could be them hitting limitations due to neurodivergence or mental illness or physical illness. It could just be them hitting a string of bad luck or realizing that other life factors make it impossible to "win" all the time. And a lot of gifted kids are perfectionists who feel like failures when they fail to meet their own impossible standards. TL;DR: Lots of people resonate with these lyrics, and I bet you those kids still "belonged" in the gifted program, if there was one at their school.
