I only have outsider knowledge, but normally for a tangi (funeral) a body would be brought to the marae and family members would stay with the person at all times. There are rules for who speaks what and when, and normally songs between speeches. Having to limit the number of people present during Covid has been really difficult. But that's TV for you.
