Getting good spectrograms can be really important for identification. Even species that sound very similar can be differentiated much more easily that way.

I heard a Great Crested Flycatcher in my neighborhood trees (according to Merlin, and it matched the sound well) in Minnesota last week, but I couldn't find it for all the leaves. I'm afraid it's already migrated, but I'll keep listening and watching.

Excellent video, guys. The flycatcher id challenge is so tricky but so interesting for us European birders. Likewise American sparrows. All beautiful birds, though. Great channel, thanks.

Eastern Wood Peewee is my personal favorite bird song. It's so cute 😭

Pewee sings of summer. Phoebe is wagging. Least is quick. Alder just wants a beer. Willow sneezed. Acadian wants the whole pizza not just a slice. Olive-sided wants beers now. Yellow-bellied is like a Least but not really. Great-crested: PRREET Kingbird: Electric tyrant noise.

Pewees can be hard to spot unless I know where to look. Sometimes I'll just hear the "Weeeeee" part of their song. I saw a couple recently but only because I saw them fly.

Oklahoma's state bird is the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher , but it looks different from the one in the video; are there distinct western and eastern subspecies?
