Many thanks for the video, Jeff. I discovered the following approach works for me: Once I’ve gathered the information from the sources, I can consolidate it into notes for new sources and then delete or free up the original ones. (this works for selected notes as well as for all notes)

Love the bit "excelling not by creating new ideas, but by connecting the dots hidden in the noise of scattered sources." But some of those scattered sources are points of view in a person's head. Whether a podcaster, professor, scientists, business executive, how can we get the creator's POV out into the world as quickly as possible? -Jason, cofounder of Jellypod

@@JeffSu some PDFs are scanned and some characters can't be read. I might have used a wrong word. I meant vectorized PDF or PDFs that have passed through PDF to OCR vector tools. Experienced this with Claude wherein it said that it can't read anything with the uploaded data.

For me notebookLM doesn't respect check boxes for sources. It's basically either all or nothing regardless of which ones are checked. I can't seem to get it to only acknowledge certain sources. Yes there's a long workaround create a new notebook but it's a PITA. You seeing the same problem?
@revirdkcalb3 күн бұрын
I noticed this as well, so I indeed always created a new notebook. But tbh, I haven't used it in a while. Maybe it has improved?

How about privacy? You put in it a lot of private data. Maybe it is not learning on it (are you sure?) but still you are uploading those docs into to the web...
@JeffSu2 күн бұрын
Personal preference I guess. I get more out of the tool than the risk of privacy issues so... yea
@mohammedshawa98623 күн бұрын
Although I enjoyed the video I still have some reservations regarding the use cases that are shared. Some of the use cases highlighted promote sharing sensitive personal information e.g. medical records which shouldn't be shared with any AI/ML model regardless of the promises made by the parent company. There are plenty of sources that dive deeper into this topic but I just want you to be aware Jeff. Additionally sharing other people's personal info is also not a good practice e.g. name, address, phone number, etc on a candidate's resume. I suggest spending sometime to be more thoughtful about privacy and some best practices as your videos do influence the actions of a lot of viewers. Note that my goal is not to cause you to change this video or append additional info but rather influence future videos that may promote similar practices in the future. With that said I did leave a thumbs up!
@BeDoHave20123 күн бұрын
Privacy has been dead. All that's left is an illusion. Might as well squeeze some benefits out of reality.

This is great feedback, don't ever be afraid to be direct and upfront with me! 😁 That being said, I personally do believe Google when they say none of the sources are used to train their models so I stand by the examples in this video (for now)!
