اللِّصُّ المُتَرَدِّدُ
The Hesitant Thief
Together, let's delve into this tale and uncover its valuable teachings.
First, I'll introduce the story in English,
giving a glimpse of the theme we'll be exploring.
Then, we'll transition into the Arabic version,
delving deeper into its essence and significance.
Without delay, let's get started!
هيا نبدأ!
اللِّصُّ المُتَرَدِّدُ
The Hesitant Thief

The Hesitant Thief
Once upon a time, there was a man who worked as a servant in the house of a very rich man. He made a secret plan with one of his friends to steal things from that house. Every time the family went out, the friend would come over, and together they would steal items and sell them, splitting the money equally between them. One night, when the family was away, the friend arrived, and they began collecting things to steal. While they were busy, the homeowner knocked on the front door. There was another door, but the friend didn't know about it.
The servant whispered to him, "Escape through the door near the well," pointing his finger towards it. The friend found the door, but he couldn't find the well. Confused, he returned to the servant and said, "I found the door, but where's the well?" The servant replied, "I mentioned the well so you'd know where the door is. If you find the door, run away quickly before the homeowner returns." The friend asked, "But why did you mention the well if it's not here?" The servant scolded him, "Just run if you find the door! You don't need the well." The friend protested, "But how can I escape if you confused me by mentioning a well that isn't here?" He kept searching for the well until the homeowner returned, caught him, and took him to the city's ruler.

8:28 could you please explain this verb in detail, like its form and other things دق.
@ArabicVocabularyInUse_Veysel
@ArabicVocabularyInUse_Veysel 17 күн бұрын
Hello @affys_world! 🌟 ❤️ السلام عليكم! Thank you for reaching out with your question about the verb "دَقَّ" (daqqa) used in the story. Let me explain it in detail for you. The verb "دَقَّ" (daqqa) comes from the root "د ق ق" (d-q-q). In Arabic, this root carries the meaning of crushing, bruising, grinding, pulverizing, or striking. Now, let's look at the form and usage of the verb: Form: "دَقَّ" (daqqa) is a Form-I geminate verb, which means it has a doubled consonant in its root. In this case, the "ق" (qaf) is doubled, giving it the geminate form. Meaning: In the context of the story, "دَقَّ" (daqqa) is used to describe the action of knocking or striking. When the owner of the house knocked on the front door, the verb "دَقَّ" (daqqa) is used to convey this action. Conjugation: The conjugation of the verb in the non-past tense (present/future) for the third person singular is "يَدُقُّ" (yaduqqu), which means "he knocks" or "he strikes." So, when we see "دَقَّ صَاحِبُ الْبَيْتِ الْبَابَ الْأَمَامِيَّ" (daqqa ṣāḥibu al-bayti al-bāba al-amāmiyya) in the story, it means "the owner of the house knocked on the front door." I hope this explanation clarifies the usage of the verb "دَقَّ" (daqqa) for you. If you have any further questions or need more clarification, please feel free to ask! بارك الله فيك (Barakallahu feek)! Warm regards from Bursa (Turkey)! 🇹🇷🌟 Best wishes, Veysel Özel ❤️ السلام عليكم!

Assalaamu alaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,,,how are you teacher. I have a question ? The verbs for the third person in past like خرج it's plural is خرجوا. Now why do we use خرج with plural noun instead of خرجوا? e.g. in this phrase in story. خرج أهل البيت،،، Instead of خرجوا أهل البيت Explain this to me teacher am always getting confused with this. بارك الله فيك
@ArabicVocabularyInUse_Veysel
@ArabicVocabularyInUse_Veysel 17 күн бұрын
Hello @ABUUJAAFAR92! 🌟 ❤️ السلام عليكم! Thank you for reaching out with your question. Let's dive into it! In Arabic grammar, the agreement between verbs and subjects follows specific patterns. Here's a breakdown: Subject-Verb Order: Typically, Arabic sentences start with a verb followed by the subject, if mentioned. This structure is known as a "verbal sentence." The verb agrees with the subject in both number and gender. Examples: The student studied his Arabic book. درس الطالبُ كتابَهُ العربيّ. The student (f) studied her Arabic book. درسَت الطالبةُ كتابها العربيّ. Plural Subjects: When the subject is plural, the verb remains singular but agrees with the subject only in gender. Dropping the subject from the sentence would make the verb plural, indicating both number and gender. Examples: The teachers studied their Arabic book. درس المدرسون كتابَهم العربيّ. The female teachers studied their Arabic book. درسَت المدرسات كتابهن العربيّ. Subjects Separated from Verb: Sometimes, subjects are separated from the verb by one or more words. In such cases, if the subject is feminine, the verb can be feminine singular. However, it can also be masculine singular, regardless of the subject's gender. Examples: Yasser Arafat and Samira went to the Iraqi restaurant. ذهب ياسر عرفات وسميرة الى المطعم العراقي. Samira and Yasser Arafat went to the Iraqi restaurant. ذهبت سميرة وياسر عرفات الى المطعم العراقي. Samira and her students went to the Iraqi restaurant. ذهبت الى المطعم العراقي سميرة وطلابها. Nominal Sentences: Sentences that begin with a noun are known as "nominal sentences." Here, when the subject precedes the verb, the verb agrees with the subject in both number and gender. Examples: The Egyptian reporters wrote the article. المراسلون المصريون كتبوا المقالة. The Egyptian female reporters wrote the article. المراسلات المصريات كتبن المقالة. Review of Rules: Subject-verb order dictates complete agreement. If the subject is omitted, the verb still agrees. A singular verb is used with plural subjects, agreeing only in gender. When multiple subjects follow the verb, the verb agrees with the first subject. If a feminine subject is separated from the verb, the verb can be either masculine or feminine singular. Examples for Each Rule: The wise directors attended many meetings. المديرون السخفاء حضروا اجتماعات كثيرة. They attended many meetings. حضروا اجتماعات كثيرة. The wise directors attended many meetings. حضر المديرون السخفاء اجتماعات كثيرة. The wise directors and the wise female directors attended many meetings. حضرت المديرات الحكيمات والمديرون السخفاء اجتماعات كثيرة. These many meetings were attended by the wise female directors. حضرت (حضر) هذه الاجتماعاتِ الكثيرةَ المديراتُ الحكيمات. I hope this clarifies your confusion, and if you have any more questions, feel free to ask! بارك الله فيك. Warm regards from Bursa (Turkey)! 🇹🇷🌟 Best wishes, Veysel Özel ❤️ السلام عليكم!
