For Wushu performance Bagua, this is very nice. it reminds me of the Bagua competition forms Sifu Liang Shou Yu and his students used to demonstrate many years ago. One thing I didn't notice being discussed or pointed out by the coach in this video, which is very important when Mud Wading or walking the circle, is that even though the outside foot curves in when stepping the inside foot needs to remain straight. Both feet do not curve into the center when stepping only the outside foot. I also noticed another difference between performance Bagua and traditional Bagua is that in traditional Bagua it is customary in many lines, to snap the toe of the foot out with a bit of force with each step before landing since each step is a hidden kick. Some of the applications used and demonstrated by the coach were very nice. Baguazhang has always been one of my favorite styles of Kung Fu.

Interesting to watch, also interesting to see how "points" are given in this "performance"style of baguazhang.the performance style seems to be mostly about appearance, and not necessarily martial integrity/substance at all. It is still interesting, though, and surely contains hidden gems.....so should not be completely dismissed by martial purists. Thanks for posting to utube.

Be careful not to push your back too far backward when doing movements over the head. Make sure it bends backward from the hips. The tongue Should be up against the palate. Not doing so may result in back injuries. Don't compromise on your knees when twisting. Damaged knees means no more wushu for a while and serious limitations in old age.

Generally a lot of the twisting and arm motions are close-in grappling and throwing techniques. They are of course more stylized when in a form. Check out kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHesd5huf5dqf5Y for some examples.

Bonjour.
