Jonny I can't believe you did the initial 4 minutes demonstrating the 6 techniques in one uninterupted shot with no edits, no mistakes, and no music! Superlative!!

Jonny~ I met Pat Metheny in Montana playing guitar with other musicians a few years back.. I asked him- 'What' would be your best advice to get to the next guitar level? He said, "take a Jazz piano class,,, It will 'all' make sense"... Well,,, Here it is,,, An easy explanation of 'everything' I've been playing all these years on guitar, but on piano- "All the blanks" explained,,, Metheny -The master, leaned all this in his parents basement in KS as a kid... I'm leaning from Jonny on KZbin.. It all makes sense now,,, The final level- Thank you -Huge- Cheers to Pat and Jonny

Really good lesson, thanks! I wouldn't, however, call the notes of an Eb-7 Eb-F#-Bb-C# because it could confuse people that there are sharps in such a simple chords.

Perfect. Love your lessons. I've been learning for 4 weeks. And getting on well. I understand chord theory which helps( I used to play jazz guitar) I have a very good ear for melody lines but I cannot for the life of me coordinate my left and right hands rhythmically.

I really don't understand why you are explaining how to build j7, 7 and m7 chords in this level. If you want to play such an advanced and versatile music as a serious musician you should at least have some of the basic music theory skills. A guitarist shouldn't learn sweeping before he knows how to use alternate picking properly and that's the same with Jazz piano. These words are not meant to criticize your lesson at all. For me block chord voicings is the high class of Jazz music and I really appreciate that you are teaching this. I absolutely took my advantages out of this. Thank you!

Hey Lars, thanks for the feedback. The challenge with pre-recorded lessons is that there is a wide variety of people watching, and everyone has different learning gaps. So in my lessons, I do try to cover some basics before getting into the deep stuff, and usually I'll tell the student not to move on to the harder stuff unless they understand the basic stuff. I'll consider your feedback for future lessons. And thanks for the compliments.

@cobrasnake78454 жыл бұрын
The E flat 7th chord in theory should be Eb G Bb Db. the way I learned it but your computer screen refer to the Db as a C# instead. Isn't that sort of incorrect though? I did noticed however that you did say Db so I guess it's just a computer typo (error). I think it also applies to the C dimished where the computer screen displays an F# instead of Gb and the Db 7 chord also too. You say Db but the computer screen reads C#. Lol!
@alfred78278 жыл бұрын
very nice instruction. Just a suggestion. Although D flat and C sharp are the same key its a little confusing to follow along when you're saying D flat while C sharp is appearing on your reference keyboard. Would like to see it read D flat instead of C sharp.

Hi Jonny..Maybe too stupid, but first at the Basic Inversions you say its a Gm7 followed after the D7. Later on you call it as a Eb6? On the Blockcords Harmonisation you talk from a Abm6 at the Db7 Position?? Could it be there is a mistake? thx
