Wow! I just started learning Mandarin and i think it's absolutely beautiful! Im a 47 year old white female but im so fascinated! Im grasping the sounds, the grammar, the words so quickly and im actually scared lol. I studied Spanish in school for 5 years and work with all Spanish speaking cooks. I can understand them sometimes lol. I then took a semester of French 1 as a senior in highschool. But I'm so obsessed with learning Mandarin now it's so exciting.
