When I first started learning Chinese, it was a song called Shi Mian Fei Xing, and it had Chinese Characters, Pinyon, and English lyrics. My first sentence I learned was from that song, wo xiang he ni, and I was really happy that I learned some Chinese. When I started learning, I didn't even know it was Mandarin, all I knew was that it was Chinese, lol, I didn't know what Pinyon was, or tones, or HSK, or even how to pronounce the words, I just kept listening, and watched youtube videos, for a while, I was communicating with a Chinese girl online and made progress pretty quick, but I lost contact with her and nearly gave up, I'm glad I didn't quit, almost daily I'm learning more! Thanks again for the clarification and feedback!
