Nice vid Good audio. Appreciate all the work in putting the actual english exchange. I do hope that rather expensive radio has some memories for sending out that cq. It really looks uncomfortable to hold that in the air like that. Guessing you can lay it down and put an angle adapter on that antenna. I get what they were going for but it just looks uncomfortable. Still cool package for its size.
@KD2YDN9 ай бұрын
You are 100% correct. It was uncomfortable. To be honest, I haven’t used it much yet. Most of what I do is rather hasty and not well thought out. If a free hour comes up to activate, I throw stuff in a bag and go. It’s just the current life style I find myself in. It does have memory I haven’t tapped into yet and that is definitely on “the list.” It’s hard to tell, but it’s rather cold. I find that sending tends to keep my fingers a tad bit warmer than auto sending , or macro sending. Probably a placebo effect? I’ll take it hihi. I do appreciate the kind words. I don’t do this radios capabilities justice. Still learning…. on multiple fronts 😂

Also worth mentioning, I forgot a few cords and had to record with my voice recorder directly from the KH1 speaker. Hence why I might look so stiff. Trying to position myself appropriately to make sure sound quality isn’t compromised.
@johnsvideo34039 ай бұрын
LOl. It all looked fine. Because of where they put the controls I had been wondering about operating positions with the radio. I was probably just going thru my own preferences in my head because I am trying to choose between this and all the small radios. I have a 705 and 891 so I have big full featured radio and power radio, what I want is the smaller option radio. Do you have a k2 or used one? I have been going back and forth on how much the weight/performance is between those two. Again you did a great job.@@KD2YDN

I am learning CW, and this is really helpful. I'd love to see more of these. How many wpm are you doing in this video approximately?
@KD2YDN7 ай бұрын
Very glad this video helps. I’m very glad to hear you are learning cw too! In this video I believe I am at 20 wpm. I find that this is a proper rate for SOTA/POTA . The more experienced operators and newer operators find this speed manageable and a happy middle ground. If you like this format, please view some of my earlier videos. I have a bunch like this one. Cheers!
@wkjagt7 ай бұрын
@@KD2YDN oh awesome! 20 wpm is still way too fast for me to copy, but when I rewatch small bits while reading along, I can recognize each individual letter and that really helps and makes it feel realistic to get to this speed at some point. I'd been learning individual letters, and they got easier, but recognizing letters in between other letters, like in a real life situation is really hard. These videos really help. I'll check out your other videos too for sure. Thanks!

My own KH1 is in transit! I am wondering, how much of your QSO QRP success to you attribute to POTA activations? What happens when you just call CQ on a QRP freq? 73 VE6GK dit dit
@KD2YDN9 ай бұрын
I haven’t tried this yet. I have chased POTA stations from home with this whip and pwr settings on “LOW” which I believe is around 2 - 2.5 watts. Signal reports of 589 from FL to my QTH in NY. I never really ask for subscribers, but I might start to just so I can get to 1K and be able to do this sort of thing live. I will definitely experiment. Congrats on the new rig!
