On the first try, my short attention span has me fizzling out in the first 3 minutes. It's a lot of information for a beginner. Although it's very good, intensive instruction, I'm going to tackle this lesson in small segments. Otherwise, when the brain gets exhausted, disappointment and feelings of failure can sabotage the learning.

There were no ads when I watched this from Canada today. I don't know why there's a difference. I actually signed up to the channel yesterday. The beginners first lessons are using a high tech feature I've never seen before: It's a MOVING BAR GRAPH that shows the learner's timing and intonation compared to native speaker. Best of luck!

Why can't you say, Learn Nederlands in 1 hour 20 minutes, or for foreigners, learn The Netherlands in 1 hour and 20 mins. Don;t you know not all people in Nederland are from Dutch/diets/germanic origin. There are many people in Nederland who are offended by being called Dutch as I am one of those. Most People from Friesland are scandanavian origin, not germanic blood, same as in Zeeland, not all are Dutch. Just use the term Nederlands and we all should get along.

Maybe if you understood English a little better and a bit more of Nederlandse history of origins, then you might understand. I have questioned people all over Nederland regarding using the word Dutch. Many over the age of 50 don't know what it means and the ones that do are divided by being called Dutch. Maybe you don;t know what happened in ww2 when the english/USA/Canada bombed Nederlands cities. Maybe your generation does not remember, but us aged sure do. Thats why some of us do not appreciate the term Dutch. I hope you understand some of this. Thank you.

@@amjan Hi amjan, Holland was used more in the earlier times, eg Spanish days, 80 year war and the English wars is when they called Nederland, Holland as they did not know the geography well enough. There has always been a North Holland or South Holland, but never Holland to the Nederlandse people. Holland is partly accepted but still frowned upon by the locals. Nederland is the proper name.
