You sang opera? That explains so much, your strategies and what makes you so unique and innovating. Funny when we are younger we learn some skills that we bring to the table later on as adults. I am bicultural (which I hated as a child), and helped out in a school for deaf children when I was 14. Funny, we try so hard to be like others, and it is our differences that will make us stand out. Lots of love. Les

I had been repeating "Shall I compare thee to a summer's day ?..." and a few other sonnets for weeks. After like 3 weeks I had a skype with an American friend, and he told that my prononciation greatly improved. So I don't know if it was just to please me or not, but there is definitely something about repetition ! That's a great video thx :)

Tip#1: focus on stress and " feeling". The "wave" of pattern Tip#2: Study mouths of more native speakers. For correct pronunciation. don't be lazy doing that. Tip#3: Repetition: for confirmation of clarity and practise sounding TIp#4: reading: comprehension. people will never understand if don't read ( spelling . meaning. etc....) Tip#5: writing: Do you know why students would easily forget things. because of this ...... do not write( learn and forget )

Rachel, as usal, you hit the nail on the head. Rhythm and music of English. That's it. You have before you the perfect way to learn English: The way children learn. However, it is kind of hard to convince people to come to class so we can babble sounds. They would not pay a teacher to teach them how to pronounce sounds rather than words. And, there is one more thing that your son has that kids out of the USA do not have: A constant contact with English. We learn Portuguese the same way. And so do Chinese learn Chinese. hahahah I have sent some groups of mine some video podcasts based on repetition and translation (less streesful) with me reading the text for them in a learning speed. Then, the original sound of the video and the video itself. THEY DO NOT DO IT. Why? Because they need to repeat things and they do not want to repeat things. They want to do things once and keep "moving on", but your son has just proven that repetition is key number one for memorization and internalization. Thank you. Needless to say, You're awesome and so is little Stoney.
