In this lesson we will learn how to pronounce the sound /h/.
You will find /h/ in words like ‘hi’, ‘hello’, ‘he’, ‘have’, ‘her’.
Note: there are some words with a silent “h” in, for example, ‘hour’, ‘honest’.
In order to create the sound /h/ put your tongue down, the lips, and teeth are parted and imagine you are blowing air onto a mirror or a piece of glass. The air goes from the back of the mouth. There is no voice.
Let me show you slowly: so, in this sound, the shape of the mouth doesn’t really matter - that shape will form with the next sound after the [h] sound. So, as we breathe out, we tighten up the throat and make sure loads of air coming out of there.
