how would I know when I need to multiply, divide, subtract or add in the word problems?

For the examples of dividing decimals. Why didn’t Example 2 get a decimal but Example 1 did? Is it because in Example 1 they’re both decimals and in Example 2 there’s a whole number and a decimal?

I did add a decimal in example 2 to make 45 become 4500. When decimals are at the end of whole numbers, you don't write the decimal out. For example, I would just write 4500 not 4500.00 in this case.

I had that problem too , the secret is to learn the “OPERATIONS “ If you learn an master the operations , you can figure out what the question is asking you to solve , once you’ve done that , just apply the operations an boom

Wait, so when we subtract decimals, Even though we always set it up with the bigger value on top, we still have to factor in the order that the numbers in the original problem were originally written? In other words, If the lesser value is listed first and we subtract it from a higher value when reading the problem from left to right, even though when we set it up to solve the higher value is on top and we subtract as normal, the answer is negative?
