Thank you. This was extremely helpful. I have a Job offer as a Program Manager and I'm just trying to decide on taking it. I have a project management background, but this would be the first program job.

I am surprised with some of the things I hear here. Following are those 1. Anees mentions about "... HR function". (at 5:10 ) ... I am like "what? when did that happen?) 2. She also talked about hiring process. At 5:16 as well another time later. ( I am completely thrown with that line. Why would PGM looks for hiring. He/she can only have recommendation about having people with certain skillset but that call is to be done by Engineering Manager) 3. Next was the mention of daily work items in which she says "creating a training video" at 6:19? Did I hear that right? What on earth is that? 4. At the same line she is mentioning some process highlights which can help recruiting, hiring, transitioning into role ? At this moment I feel like I am not looking at the video Software Engineering Program Management. This sounds completely different. 5. The first difference between Prod Manager and Prog Manager was mentioned. She said at 9:39, product manager is more of "requirements" and its tie-up with product roadmap to solve a type of business problem. And It makes sense. But very next line she said, "as a program manager, my job is solve different type of business problem". ... again ... what? you cannot tell the difference of roles by just saying "they are different." or "one solve a problem and other solves different problem" without telling the fundamental differencee. This is as good as saying, difference between potato and tomato is , potato is one type of vegetable and tomato is a different type of vegetable.

“You are hired!” 😁 the most important skill for any person is the ability to sell yourself. Even if don’t know a shit about most of the work at this position.

ANES SOUNDS HELLA BORING

While I really enjoyed from Anees, I think the person who is asking questions can really improve on her accent greatly. It kills the quality of a great conversation when we cannot understand the questions at all. On the other hand, Anees is very cohesive in framing the answers for the audience. It was extremely helpful for me to prepare for an interview as Program Manager.

Interesting. I'm a Midwestern American and don't often talk to people from other cultures, but I thought she did fine. I could understand the questions easily enough.

As long as you can communicate properly, that's all that matters. Accents are normal and should be normalised. It shows diversity.

Aneese doesnt know a single thing about neither program management nor project management. Look at the answer( very first question) to "what is program management" . Even my team leads answer better Aneese.

This comment tells me that YOU don't know anything about program management yourself. You need to learn. Listen to her answer on second question. She absolutely nailed it.
