I was always so angry because my mom never taught me how to braid. Now that I’m older , I realize that she never learned how to do her natural hair. She’s had a relaxer since she was a little girl; which means, my grandmother probably didn’t know either. I feel so blessed to grow up in a time where we can learn the things our families never knew from the internet! When I have a daughter or even a son, I can do things differently . I’m Puerto Rican and have straight/wavy ish hair and was never taught to put products in it past shampoo and conditioner so I feel you. I had a black baby 5 years ago and have been lost with hair care. She basically has the same texture as the woman in this video. (And my daughter tender headed) I’ve been trying to learn protective hair styles to help keep her hair from getting matted. I’ve already found products that seem to work for her and I’ve tried bonnets but she hates them so I’ll be buying silk pillow cases instead. I hope your hair care journey is going wonderfully 🫶🏼

I’m learning so many things I didn’t know how to do. Learning my own wash day routine. Learning to do knot less braids for the first time, crochet braids, lace fronts, and faux locs. My biggest struggle has been braiding down my hair 😭 it made my lace fronts look wonky and it made crocheting look wonky because I can never get them neat and flat. Thank you for this video/tutorial! I'm a special needs educator and one of my students has 4C hair. One of the life skills goals her mom would like me to work on with her this year is helping her to sit through getting her hair braided or any other style. Cause we both agree that EVERYONE should look and feel good about their appearance no matter if they are special needs or neuro-typical. Now I know how to braid and do a variety of hairstyles on my own children who are biracial, and while I take extra care of their hair, they do not have 4C hair (they have somewhere between 2C and 3A). I do not want to cause any breakage to my student's hair so I asked her mom what kind of oil or other products she would like me to use on her daughter's hair, I made sure the brushes, picks, and ties I have are the same she would like me to use on her daughter's hair (same ones used in this video as well as one for her edges), and of course what style she would mostly like me to focus on. I'm trying to make the experience of her getting her hair braided a fun time for her so she is more likely to sit still longer for myself, her mom, and older sister (my student is AMAZING but has a very hard time sitting still and instead loves to dance around like a ballerina). I will also be trying to teach my student how to braid as well and have told her she is allowed to style my hair too (I mean that is only fair right if I am going to be braiding her hair throughout the school year). This video really broke it down in a way that is super easy to follow along with and to understand.

i attempted and failed; i doubted myself after about an hour in attempting to get the hand motion down and almost completely set on not obtaining this skill. i’m gonna give it another go tomorrow. usually, the issue i have with processing things that have to do with using your hands is due to the fact that the majority of the population is right handed, meanwhile i’m left handed; it gets confusing. your video is extremely friendly and you’re amazing at simplifying the objective, i just have a me problem which is having a hard time following. being able to do hair really is incredible and skillful; i admire you all who have the ability to do that.

your example of how to braid is the best I have found, I have been trying to learn to braid for ever. I think watching you that I finally got it. Thx.

I used your tutorial to braid my son's hair. Very good. Can't wait to straighten out my hair so I can try it as well. It was messy for me though but his hair was not straightened and it's only about 1.5 inches long so I was proud of myself.

Think i finally see it now. Thanks. Your video really showed more than a bunch i have watched. Your tutorial showed me a lot up close n simple.☺️ Now i wish i had a doll head or something to practice on before i try to tackle my tender headed son's 4C hair.😏

you’re a very good teacher. It’s very difficult to explain this, I just watched a few other videos and other people are literally explaining the same thing but I couldn’t follow along😭
