I listen to you on repeat all day long whilst i'm working. This is definitely the best thing on youtube for Finnish. I also have another idea though - what do you think about 'comprehensible input' using gestures and pictures ? There is a guy doing this for Polish and it's very effective. He basically grabs and apple and just says 'apple'. Then he grabs a banana and says 'banana'. Then he grabs another apple and says 'two apples'. Then 'two apples and a banana'. Shame i don't want to learn Polish because it works like a charm ! I think if something like that was available which was truly comprehensible and took the learner to a semi decent level the channel would get millions of views.

Kiitos paljon! There are so few resources for learning Finnish. I try to do Finnish subtitles with movies or shows on Netflix, but as someone else mentioned the spoken and written subtitles don't match up. Also, classes I have been in are so focused on the grammar, when the listening and speaking is what's most important as I am now living in Finland with my husband. Thanks again! :) I look forward to going through your materials.

I love learning languages, so I thought it's a great opportunity to learn Finnish, which was always fascinating for me. It's destiny -Moomins are my favorite cartoon from childhood :) Anyways, it's really difficult to find some videos in Finnish, with English subs, for the purpose of learning Finnish.

thank you for your dedication, I see you keep uploading videos after so much time. This is a nice idea fo learning a language because this is how kids learn language I think. Maybe you can make videos of daily conversations one can have in different situations and maybe some videos putting a series scene or movie scene trying to dub voices. Anyways thanks again for the dedication the effort and the good job

Moikka, I stumbled upon your videos since I’m searching for course material (yours seem to be excellent) AND someone to actively talk to. I want to learn since I’m working for a Finnish company, so to speak the language it would be a plus. In addition, after spending two weeks in Turku, I’d the chance to experience Finnish culture and it impressed me… in a positive way, of course! 😊 So, are you also available to 1 to 1 lessons to complement your course material? Thank you, and greetings from Rome
@finnished
@finnished Жыл бұрын
Moi Emanuele, thank you for your comment! The method I use in my course recommends to start speaking only after you understand some Finnish. I explain it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHbTo2R-dr1kaNU&lc=UgzqpxFRg0CAE2-M-RN4AaABAg So ideally, you would start 1 to 1 lessons once you already understand quite a bit, and the purpose would be to activate your speaking. I don't do private lessons where I explain grammar :)

Moi!

Do we need to have any words in our vocabulary before we start watching your videos or could we simply start here without a large Finnish vocabulary?
@finnished

You can certainly start even without any vocabulary - you will learn it with the English translation. Of course, it will take a bit more time, but once you get a minimum basis, you will notice your learning accelerate :)

Hi teacher thanks a lot, I start Finnish with your clips because they are improve for speaking and Iam Beginner I learn it so slow and difficult, do you know why ? but another things i learned normal, i Listened it last night with today about 30 times but i understood %45 because it’s difficult every videos i must learn 50 times Do you have good idea how can I learn faster?
@finnished
@finnished 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment! If you are a complete beginner, I suggest that you start with the Beginners playlist, because the videos are slower and more simple. When you watch a video for the first time, do you pause it after each sentence to check the translation? That could help you a lot! Unfortunately learning takes a lot of time and effort and requires you to listen (actively) a LOT :)

Finnished Thank you for answer, i wanna ask you about The time interval between repetitions between a lesson What do you think about the time interval between repetitions? Can I take a lesson four hours in a row or two hours in the morning and two hours at night? What is the result of not forgetting,Repeated repetitions are good every five minutes or long repetitions in the morning،night

Am I supposed to read English and Finnish subtitles at once? I mean if I am looking only at Finnish subs and listening to you, I hardly catch up new words and if I don't understand the context right now, after six repeats nothing will change, right?
@finnished
@finnished 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I recommend reading English and Finnish at once - I usually pause the video if needed, to see which word corresponds which. You will see that you have to do this a couple of times to learn the new words, and then you can start watching the video without pausing and only reading the Finnish subtitles. Sorry for the long explanation, I hope this makes sense!
