@@FinnishWithAnna Tack.

You have no idea how nice it is to have found you. You pronounce in a way I can hear the letters. Thank you.

Kiitos Anna! My lovely and beautiful mom was Finnish. She never taught me to speak it as we didn’t live in Finland and since my dad was also an immigrant to the country I grew up, there were 3 languages in the house. So she said she thought a 4th would be too much for me as a child. But honestly I think she loved the fact that she could speak to her sister and friends over the phone without anyone knowing what she was saying 😅❤️. She’s not with us anymore and I feel I want to know more about where she was from and maybe surprise my cousin and aunt one day. My aunt does not speak english, it would be great to be able to talk to her one day. So thank you for your generous help ❄️🌺🙏

Moi Anna, I have a suggestion; I think a video on what methods and ways to study the language would be great. Like pointers on how often to read a book in Finnish, and article, and what we should keep an eye out. Maybe even someday a simple work sheet that can come along as an extra or something to every video.

Hello, great video! Perfectly comprehensible with its examples and additional notes in all but one aspect; the sound that Y represents in Finnish. It's a common thing among many roman alphabet-using languages to utilize some of its letters in different ways; J, X, W, etc... From what I understood, it's used as another vowel that sounds somewhat like a U but (probably?) isn't the same. A small clarifying side-note on that wouldn't hurt, that's all. Have a nice one :D

I can't hear any difference between *e* and *ä* . There has to be a difference or else it would not be included in the alphabet. For example in _vihreä_ I hear _vihree_ and it is so confusing.
@ClockMaster20133 жыл бұрын
e is pronounced like [ɛ] in the german "Bett" or (maybe) english "when". It is the same Sound as our german "ä", although the finnish e has more transition to an actual [e]. finnish ä is pronounced like [æ] in the english words cat, bad, sad and hat
@roberth43953 жыл бұрын
@@ClockMaster2013 Thanks, but as I am not a native english nor a german speaker this does not help me. Hopefully it will help someone else. 99% of the language teachers fail when it comes to pronounciation. You need to show a picture where wr can see the tongue position. We need to see how the lips/mouth moves and we need to hear to sound. Without the tungue position mastering pronounciation takes years or anbeternity. Phonetic writing is also useless for people who did not learnt how to read it. Thanks anyway and have a nice day!
