This is all very good. But there is DEFINITELY a trick that every Anglophone should know....if you say "Ou est la gare?" (or any of these phrases) to a French person, the likely response will be "Bonjour." As in, you didn't have the decency to say Bonjour before asking your question. So the correct way is "Excusez-moi..." (now you have their attention)...bonjour (s/he will say bonjour)...ou est la gare? That is how it is done.

Excellent collection, liked! Just one thing, the expressions are self-explanatory, why not focus more on slow vs normal pronunciation? French sounds can be a pain for non natives! Gracias.

Wow, different Lya. I was somewhat memorized by her beauty before ,on her previous video's,. so stern , so focused. Now I am totally swooned. Why didn't I move to France when I was a young man. Instead of living in the Artic and Yukon maybe I could of met someone like Lya. Although I suspect she is one of a kind. She is very funny and charming in this educational talk.. Well worth your time.

Love all these videos on how to say stuff on holiday in a language you can't speak. Me "Bonjour, excuse moi o est la gare?" French person "Ce n'est qu'à un demi-kilomètre. Continuez tout droit dans cette rue puis tournez à droite. Passez la grande église sur votre gauche, vous vous retrouverez juste en face du grand hôtel au coin. Bonne chance. Au revoir!" Me "......................ah sorry I don't speak French" lol. The best phrase to learn in any language you don't speak is. "Hello, excuse me I don't speak XXXX, do you speak English"!

How did you do in France?
@tinar.a.3542
@tinar.a.3542 2 жыл бұрын
@@blackcarriebradshaw, hello, how are you? I had a wonderful time, beautiful experience; however, I knew I should have began practicing earlier as far as speaking French. I went to Italy FIVE years ago and kept using simple phrases in Italian while in France 😣. By the end of the week, when we were heading to London, I was finally getting used to simple phrases in French. My husband has traveled much more than I, he’s much more comfortable than I. However, towards the end of our Paris trip, my son had to stay in due to his epilepsy and meds. I was by myself with him and needed to ask for a couple of towels. I asked in French the best I could and the lady was kind and responded as quickly as she could. After that, I had more confidence. So, I would recommend people remember issues will arise, so, do your best to learn the basics.
