No, No, No. This format is just like so many that leave out the fun and the spirit and the expressive Alexa. LFWA is first and foremost Alexa. Has she become more corporate, more efficient, more managed? Why would I choose just another robotic approach. Bring back the Alexa that is so vibrant and so present.

Correction: “Si je veux dire” et “Je dis” If you mentioned the thing before in a previous statement, you would then say “Il est bleu”. For example, Voici mon cahier, il est bleu”. If there’s no previous context and you’re talking about a thing use “c’est”. Please subscribe to my channel too and I’ll personally help you with similar stuff.

Why isn't the subjonctif tense used in je pense qu'il est?
@MatthewPlato91
@MatthewPlato91 4 жыл бұрын
I thought the difference between c'est and il est is that il est is more formal and perhaps implies a stronger tone, such as c'est nécessaire vs il est nécessaire, both meaning it's necessary but you'd usually use il est nécessaire que tu sois là over c'est nécessaire... Or is that not so?
@destindarksoul
@destindarksoul 4 жыл бұрын
If I'm not mistaken, you also use "il est" when you want to say if something is difficult or easy. For example: "Il est difficile de dormir quand il fait chaud." "Il est facile de parler français si on l'étude bien !"

Hi, Can you explain why the expression "reading is difficult" or "Il/c'est difficile de lire" can take either "il" or "ce" here, given the general rule that "il" is usually used with adjectives and "ce" with nouns. In the same vein, can you explain why the expression "it's difficult to read" or "c'est difficile a lire" seems to only take "ce" and not "il", given the general rule that "il" is used with adjectives and "ce" with nouns. Also, can you explain why it is "ce n'est pas loin, c'est au bout de la rue" when the general rule with prepositions of place is to use "il". Thank you.
@gide5489
@gide5489 Жыл бұрын
reading Chinese is difficult =lire le chinois est difficile = c'est difficile de lire le chinois = il est difficile de lire le chinois Le chinois ? C'est difficile à lire. Le chinois ? Il est difficile de le lire. Le magasin ? Il n'est pas loin. Au bout de la rue. Le magasin le plus proche ? Ce n'est pas loin. C'est au bout de la rue. All these practices around "c'est" / "il est" are subtle and should not be taught as formal laws and certainly not in this way. The question is not why but how. Il est aussi facile de rêver un livre qu'il est difficile de le faire. Honoré de Balzac Le Cabinet des Antiques (1839) Quand on picole tout seul chez soi c'est difficile de se dire qu'on a l'alcool festif, qu'on est un bon vivant, on est forcément confronté à l'aspect un peu. Balzac. Avocat, bon et mauvais.

@@gide5489 Hi thanks for acknowledging that the usual "rules" as taught here and elsewhere don't adequately deal with these different cases and their subtleties. I've actually asked this on about a dozen french instruction channels and not one of the tutors touched it 😆 A lot of half-baked understanding of french around.
@gide5489
@gide5489 Жыл бұрын
@@markkennedy9767 I saw your question several times. I am not able to answer to the question why, I am not a French teacher, I don't know the rule and if there is a rule. But I speak French and I can see that what these teachers say is often wrong (and at a minimum not pedagogic, not sure wether this word exists). They all repeat the same thing, often with the same examples, often several times. What is sad is that they have contaminated other teachers (Spanish, Italian, Moroccan... and even British) which now all explain us the same rule that doesn't work. I tried to stop them giving a lot of examples of French authors but they don't neither answer nor care.
