I use the mechanical bridge all the time it's a must for me since I am very short, I drill with it so that I can be comfortable, the look on people's faces when you know how to use it is priceless.

Thanks Brian! I’ve followed Alex as well, and he is a phenomenal player! His stroke is very similar to Efren’s stroke. It’s really good for you to point out the subtle details, that we miss while watching. More would be nice!

Nice vid of pointing things out Bryan --- do appreciate it. To be completely honest, I watch to pick-up things, of how something my benefit me ... ya never know! Emphasizing the use to the mechanical bridge; many of us don't use it near enough. The position and accuracy --- or better yet, the accuracy of the shot and the position after can truly change the outcome of the game!!!! GUILTY --- I am!!! I don't use it enough, especially when/where I should and it has cost me. I've re-thought my approach on using, a bit of hard discipline on myself - to use the bridge when the "stretch" is not comfortable or just the question to use it ..... Get it and use it. It does make a difference (and I'm 5'9"). Thanks again on another (of so many) great videos. Be Safe

I really like the way Alex plays and I have a very similar stroke with a pause at the cue ball and again on the finale back swing. But I cringe every time I see him dragging his cue along the ground. Maybe it's because I am meticulous when it comes to taking care of my cues. I clean them after every use. I am the only person at the local tournaments that has clean white ferrules all the time. Everyone else has blue chalk covered ferrules that probably only get cleaned when they get a new tip.

Great tips and analysis! The only thing that I don't agree with is the Jump/break cue saving money. I would much rather use my j and j jump cue than my 600 dollar Schon jump/break. Paid 30 dollars used. Hits like a dream!👍🙂

Good points about being short. I’m 5,5 and so many of the times I avoid taking the correct shot because I just cannot reach it and I’m lazy to use a bridge. Or I miss an easy shot because I’m reaching across the whole table with my bridge hand 3 feet back on the cue lol. I feel like I have no control using a bridge. I can’t play any position with it.

Keep in mind that learning to use your off hand will help with some of those shots. Maybe start working on that about 10% of your practice time.

Alex is probably my favorite player. I do have a question. What do you make of him spinning the cue in his hand before shots? Also being a little nit picky he lives in Vegas now not Canada.

I have a theory about this and I’ve been bringing it up to my students for over a year. I have a habit of flaring my fingers as a reminder to not over grip the cue and I think he might be doing the same thing when he spins the cue in his hand. Just a theory

Of course my favourite is efren reyes (as Michael Jordan in basketball) not because maybe is the best ever play the game but for the way he played the game... I saw a Jasmine Oushan "What's in the case" recently and she had her powder in a roll on plastic bottle, like a deodorant dispenser. She just put a tiny stripe on her hand, very little powder in the exact area of her bridge hand that touches the stick. She said it is a great no mess option she discovered. I've gotten on tables in the hall occasionally, in league, where I feel like smacking the guy previously playing that has left giant powder trails all over the table. It is distracting and gets powder all over the balls and YOUR equipment, primarily your glove. I even said something once out loud and the guy wouldn't talk to me for weeks. An added benefit, in his case. Some people are clueless. Best part, I never saw him do it again after that. I don't try to be confrontational, but good lord!
