I'm noticing that with some English already in your mind, German is a bit easier because they share many words in common or pronunciations. Also, as Spanish speaker, I found some hard consonants easy to pronounce. Now, I must keep learning new words so I can practice grammar!.

Great lesson! I am puzzled with two things, 1. when do we use ss or the beta since they are pronounced the same way? 2. why is "das abend" but not "das morgen" or "das gestern"? Is there no article for today/tomorrow/yesterday?

it's not 'das Abend', it's 'der Abend'. There can be an article for today/tomorrow/yesterday but it's not very common. Das Gestern, das Heute und das Morgen sounds pretty poetic to me, it's not used in everyday German. Same as in English actually. When do you say 'the tomorrow' or 'the today'?
