Nominativ is for the subject doing the action (so like she said - an subject/object + a verb is nominative) Akkusativ is for an direct object z.B - Thomas is hungry - this is nominative because Thomas (the subject) is hungry (the verb) The dog is drinking the water - this is accusative because the dog (is the subject) he is drinking the water (direct object) I struggled with this quite a bit but I hope this makes sense. Also, there are prepositions and verbs that can cause sentences to go into accusative so make sure you look at those as well. Also something that she forgot to mention in the video is the endings for indefinite articles, definite articles and no articles - every case has a different ending for each article so make sure you learn this as well. Wird also used for future tense so anytime you talk about the future you can also use "wird" with the verb "er wird stehlen" like "he will steal"

I find the overall structure and subscription variables hard to understand but that's OK, I'll get to it and will pay on general principle, meantime I can search for what I need eg today "Nominative" which was beautifully explained.

Hello i have just started learning German. in about the 2:00 timestamp, if i understand it correctly, is it being said that "ein Bus" in the sentence "Das ist ein Bus" is the subject? in english in the sentence "That is a bus" rather "That" would be the subject and not "a bus", and in my quick little Google search i didn't find any results stating that German is different to English in that sense. can you please clarify? Thank you very much for the content btw

Very good video! Vielen dank! I have a question regarding pronunciation. Here in Brazil we have many German speakers, however, most of them speak the Hunrukisch dialekt, and I noticed that they speak with the Latin 'r', but I am aware that many Germans speak with the guttural r, is there a specific reason for that?

I'm still new to German but i think "ich bleibe heute zu Hause" is more like "I stay at home today..or I'm staying at home today".. because when yiu use "will" the statement would indicate future which eould change how the word woll be sturctured...just my opinion though

Hallo Lehrerin, I am having a doubt which is bothering me a lot. I am confused. In the example, "Peter kommt aus Köln." Isn't "Köln" here in Akkusativ or is it in Dativ?? The preposition "aus" is dativ which tells that it is in Dativ but dativ is always the indirect object, here köln seems to be the direct object of the verb "Kommen" I am actually revising all the cases as I am getting confused. So please answer Lehrerin 🙏

I wonder why there is not any article before Peter. Because 'Peter' is a noun and must be in nominative case. It is not it nominative case and don't have any article?

What role does stehen play in the sentence: Bleiben Sie stehen! Its confusing bexause bleiben meams to stay and stehen means stand

I'd be inclined to say that 'stehen' is like an adjective, it describes _how_ 'You' should 'remain'? Not entirely sure, but this is my educated guess

In Latin, at least, nominative is the subject and accusative is the direct object. Also, dative is the indirect object and genitive is possessive, like "This is the property of (genitive noun)."
