I have loved Red Heart Yarn for many, many years, and I also am a crochet designer. The yarn is reasonably priced, easy to work with and I recommend no other brand. I have some blankets that are over 30 years old that are still good-I gave them to the cats but they enjoy them! They're a little thin but still in use! There hasn't been a bed in this house that didn't have a Red Heart Yarn spread on it. Also, if I am going to put a lot of hard work into a design and an article, I want good yarn that will last.

Super Saver sucks butt. I love their other yarns but not only do I not recommend Super Saver, I do my best to steer people away from it. Nasty yarn.

@@DAEDreamin I do as well. It holds up really well because it's so rough and stiff. I'll use it for pet beds and stuff like that though. It bugs me that the colors are so nice but the yarn is so bad lol..

There are several types of yarn, wool, cotton that can be utilized for specific purposes. Red Heart Yarn acrylic is great for making slippers, as the hold is stronger than a softer more stretchy type of yarn. Basic Red heart, the super saver are good ones for slippers. Also, it's all in how one stitches their yarn product. My mother made afghans years ago using Red Heart brand and the afghans are still holding up. For those consumers that are having problems with Red Heart acrylic yarns, use the yarns for their purpose. Washing garments or blankets in the correct lukewarm to cool temperature, and air drying or very low fluff heat in a dryer helps to keep the yarn products long lasting.

Red Heart yarn used to be the ONLY yarn I would ever knit with, but now it is so scratchy and rough. I can't even use it anymore. I REALLY wish the company would listen to their consumers and go back to the way it used to be when it was soft and a joy to work with.

they should make a yarn that is 50percent cotton & 50 acrylic or wool or wood fiber like bamboo or some other type of wood fiber to make it softer & much more environmentally better than using acrylic-which is a fossil fuel to begin with & is NOT a sustainable product of the earth!!

Cherrell Tarver My husband fusses occasionally about my leftover "hoard" of yarn. One time I took all my pieces and made a queen size spread from it! Leftovers are good for colorful granny squares, and he fussed because I bought more yarn, black, for the borders. He told me scrap afghans shouldn't require more yarn! What does he know? LOL!!!

Using Crude Oil to make Yarn is not sustainable do you have a longterm sustainable solution to keep your business going and to create yarn like using cotton, silk or wool or at least in part @Redheart
@marial.rapaglia4041
@marial.rapaglia4041 6 жыл бұрын
you are absolutely correct-using crude oil is a fossil fuel in the raw & cannot be regrown like wool or cotton can which is environmentally better & biodegradable & also feels better on the skin naturally. I heard that they can make yarn from bamboo wood

fine and dandy for all you I'm just gonna use wool bla bla bla well for many of us we are Allergic to wools and wool blends in my case if near my skin it feels like millions of needles are sticking into me..I can't even work with it to make projects for others. i do agree if you don't bump up your game to at least rh Love or better it can be so stiff and scratchy it won't even move thorough your fingers be it knit or crochet..blankets do last I must say and still most cost effective for us wallet challenged humans..

I only use Red Heart but sometimes it is frustrating. Some are heavier (especially the darker colors), some are quite light and they often aren't wound tight enough. I would sure like to know why there are such discrepancies but I can't get a response from the company. Anyone here have any input? I'm thinking of switching to another Coats and Clark product but I like the price and color selection of Red Heart. Besides, I have a lot of it! Such fun to see how things are made.
