oh hell yeah! thanks for doing this! I just set up my own label but it was quite the process especially for getting it all up with vinyl, publishing, copyright, MLC, etc. Information for that isn't that easily accessible so this is for sure gonna be greatly appreciated by many I'm sure. I think your advice and tips on finances, goals, and general philosophy is 100% on point.

I will say, both labelworx and triple vision did deny or ghost me lol. I've had great experience with label-engine though (as an American label).

Hey! Thanks for watching! Well vinyl, mechanical rights, etc, etc... is another step and one that you have to spend above 1k++ or go P&D and well you know how it goes. That's odd, got american friends on Triple. You know where to reach me via DM, i can give you the contacts :) perhaps it went to spam? And Labelworx is ticket system...

@ yeah labelworx rejected me maybe because I had zero online presence, didn’t attach my artwork or something….who knows. But yeah I’ll dm you on instagram or email sometime cuz I’d be curious to check out triple visions vinyl distro in the future. Cheers!

What’s the advantage of having your own label (where you just release your own music) instead of self releasing your music? Thanks for the video this was very helpful as I just finished my first 4 tracks and got them mastered.

Well you having your own label, is self releasing your own music :) But you can't self release yourself on platforms like Beatport, Juno and so on if you don't have a label setup. You'll be locked into Bandcamp and perhaps some streaming platforms that allow you to do that. Plus a Label is like a Brand as well, easy to identify and categorize. Cheers

Super informative. My latest release promo on FatDrop got 35 comments from some well known Producers/DJs so I was very impressed and got great feedback. So sometimes releasing on a known label seems to have that advantage in getting your music out into the right hands. Quick question. What was the biggest motivator to start your own label for you? Did you do this for more control of your releases, better release timings/frequency, freedom to release your own track choices. Love the info my friend. Cheers.

Very useful stuff here! Thanks. I am planning to build a tiny techno label from passion to the music in the future and as a hobby musician for me it is not about the money. So maybe you could help me with this: What about getting a label code and the taxes and accounting stuff in the background. What things in terms of the legal stuff do i have to set up in the beginning? As I mentioned, for me it is not about making money out of this, but i think i still have to consider some legal things?! Thanks for some information and keep going your nice work here ;)

Hey! Thanks for watching. I don't know where you are located, but tax wise, you will only need it when you want to cash out. You either cash out as a freelancer and pay taxes on profit, or if you want (i don't think it's the right way for such small amounts) create a company and use it to cash out... Or.. you don't and leave it be :D 🏴☠️ NFA. Legal wise, there's not much here, read the distribution contracts, that's the bonding. As for Licensing and stuff, you can register yourself on artist association like STIM.se in Sweden which is free and no fees, and that way you end up protecting your propriety a bit more. But dude if people wanna copy you or steal, they will :) being registered helps to make sure you get all royalties from all places and an extra security to claim copyrights, cause you registered your tracks. But you're worried about stuff that doesn't even make sense until you are ready to cash out ahah :D Cheers

I'm not sure what you mean by label code but if you mean something like ISRC number, that's something you can get generated from your distributor or from whatever country you're in that generates that number for you and that'll help you get a number that will correspond with your music to track paying you money down the line. All that being said, releasing on bandcamp will probably net you more sales especially if you're just starting out.
