As a DJ/Producer, you should not sell beginning DJs sour grapes. You know it takes practice and skill to DJ. I don't happen overnight. I started in 2016. I practice for a year in secret. In 2017, I DJ on my online radio show and being doing it ever since. I played at 2 outdoor events last year and had my first gig in a club this year. What I am saying is this is not a quick study. You are learning new things all the time. You add more to your skill set all the time. You get better all the time. That comes through practice.

Being a good dj takes hours of practice. If you new get the same record on both decks you know really well must have a beat from the start . Basically dj ING is counting beat . Once you work out what in you ear to what's being played . Thats it . The hard part is record selection . And What part to mix at . That takes hours of practice . I got my son on basic mixing in 30 min's on some 1210 . Learning to dj is great because you can watch football wile answering the wife . You start hearing everything else

Thanks for the kind words my friend! These tracks are actually unreleased promos from friends - the artists are Moscow Noir/Night Vision for the first track, and Brendan Dowden for the second and third. All from Toronto.

hey, I got my first set of decks almost a year ago, the Pioneer WeGo 4. only basic and im going to look at buying my next set with a budget of around $2000, what do you recommend? are split systems better than connected controllers? Also, your channel has really helped me get better recently keep up the videos!
@househeadspeakz6 жыл бұрын
I too started DJing using the WEGO 4. Now I have the Pioneer DDJ 400. My suggestion is to get that or the DDJ 1000 controller for $1200usd. If your heart is set on CDJ's I would look at the XDJ 700. They cost about $699 each. You can get that set along with the DM 900 Nexus 2 mixer. I hope that helps

Good tutorial but technically you can't learn to DJ in 5mins, Your are using same tempo bpm around 126 on cdj nexus with platter movements only in that demo, DJ should learn the pitch control more and train their ears, it takes lot of practise to get it perfect , also DJ's should stop worrying about key scale, if your good DJ learn the EQ of the mixer, you can make great sounding DJ mixes without all that, they did on turntables perfectly In the 90s of house music

@@DJ-XquiZite What are you struggling with?
@DJ-XquiZite Жыл бұрын
@@markalexwhite I have the DDJ 400 I don't understand all of the knobs and buttons. I've been watching videos and tutorials for over 4 months and I'm still confused. Right now, I just want to learn to play music and fade tracks in one behind the other
@markalexwhite Жыл бұрын
@@DJ-XquiZite That's crossfading ie. fading current track out and new track in. You need to beatmatch the new track to the current track and then just fade out the current as you fade in the new track (using the volume sliders). You should ensure you have at least 16 bars of outro on current track and 16 bars of intro on new track when you're practicing - so that you have plenty of time to match the beats and get those faders up and down smoothly. Perhaps turn the auto beat match on (Beat Sync on DDJ400) at the beginning so that your bars line up when you press play on the new track - that way you can just focus on the volume sliders. Once you have that mastered you can move on to manually beatmatching and then matching equalisation eg: lowering outgoing bass and increasing incoming bass etc. I was a professional musician before DJing so a lot of this stuff made sense to me pretty quickly but for most everyone else - it takes time - and lots and lots and lots of practice. It will all fall into place as long as you keep at it. Baby steps! ;-)
@DJ-XquiZite Жыл бұрын
@@markalexwhite Thank you so much. I will keep working at it. I know when I get the basics down, everything else will fall into place. I'm not into EDM, just want to DJ old school R&B, I know it's going to take time

In one of your previous tutorials I heard you mentioning that when 2 faders are up at the same time there might be too much sound. Indeed that happened to me when I played at home on small speaker with 320khz quality tracks. However I tried to play also with 192 khz tracks, and with both faders up, it sounded ok. As a general rule, is it better to gradually switch low frequencies?
