Hey Arman, just wanted to tell you that i really appreciate both the content and the way you are visualising/providing all of the informaion. I learned a lot initially from dj ellaskins, which is great in terms of mind visualisation for begginer djs, to grasp the context and why's. He's always taking years in getting to the point tho, using multiple examples and comparisons. Entertaining, but for one that is trying to visualise an image it's like describing a singular line of shape, without mentioning the perspective. You provide precise and crucial information that fills the gap i have from his tutorials tho, with logcal precise descriptions which make me understand things thoroughly, possibly cause of having very analytical mind. Your video on 5 dj habbits that I've watched years ago, gave me soooooooo much support, information and confidence later on that i cannot highlight enough. What I'm trying to say is that you have opened my eyes multiple times with your tutorials! You are creating a great content for the community and you seem like a really humble person. Biggest ups mate!

When i am mixing in the second track 99% best way for me is the mids and highs at 10 o clock moving the volume fader to max. When a small break comes, mix the bass from first track to the second one. You will keep the Melody going and bass 👍

@Blank Facee also if u dunno how to Beautmatch or bring in a. Transition I learned it personally counting the beats until 8 count to 8 4 times and after the first time counting 4 times press play after that keep counting and finally bring ur transition in but if ur on controller it’s easier in my opinion

Nice to see someone else likes to throw the up faders open and balance things out with the Eqs. Ive been doing it this way as long as I can remember because it just felt natural and sounded better in my opinion. There are some scenarios where a slow up fade is preferable but I use this method across most genres and rarely see other DJs do this.

Thanks for this video, I learned a lot from it! I just started DJing and I never touched the middle EQ knob before I watched your video. Now I'm doing it the way you showed in this video and my mixes sound way better. I blew my girlfriend away! If I may suggest a topic for a new video, I've been wondering why I would ever want to use 4 decks instead of 2. I never use the other 2 channels that I have available to me, so it would be interesting if you showed me some tricks that work with 4 decks that you can't do with only 2.

Love your tutorials. I've been DJing since the 90's but i'm always open to learning. I use EQ mixing as play Trance/Hard House here in the UK but also play Progressive Breakbeat so EQ mixing is perfect for this genre as tend to play long transitions. I think a lot of new dj's need to realise they are not just djing but sound engineering at a basic level when in the booth :)

I see you nudge the the incoming track forward and continue to do so even when its almost all open and you bringing the outgoing track down, the problem with that is that you can sometimes hear how you bend the pitch of the incoming track especially when all the frequency faders are all open...you should actually be nudging the deck outgoing deck back...or what Im actually trying to say is its better mixing by nudging back and forth the deck that has the least volume.
@chrissmith8784
@chrissmith8784 5 жыл бұрын
Bernard Steyn yup. Much more noticeable on vinyl mixing aswell. Can get away with it on cdjs but def on vinyl you need to be slowing or speeding up the outgoing track whdn its volume is lower and being mixed out

Like your videos man. I’m also (home) DJ from Toronto but I have fear of performing. What would you suggest in this situation? All my friends are techno nerds and criticizing my mixes all the time and I know it’s “good” but when I start playing with at least a bit of audience I’m making mistakes. But if I’m all alone like nobody watching I’m doing crazy good transitions that turn to be completely different tracks that sound insane!

This might be long winded but here goes (and I'm assuming you mix in key with the Camelot wheel). Plan your set, certainly say your first 30 mins. Keep it simple, by that I mean play tracks that work well together (in key) and do smooth transitions as Arman has shown in this video. If you do this for your first 2 or 3 tracks it will build confidence in you AND your crowd. Then I would probably say go for a bigger key change, such as playing a track in a major key or jumping two keys on the Camelot wheel to give you set/flow an energy boost. Once you've got the confidence you'll start enjoying it and the more complex mixing techniques you talk about will be much easier to execute in front of a crowd! Hope that helps, keep it up and be confident 👍🏻

Could you do a tutorial on Mixing in a more particular way, for the bassline? My Problem now is that I don’t quite get to manage the Transition of the Bassline very well. I know it‘s also a lot about timing which is probably my nemesis in Mixing. Just would like to see maybe a few ideas on how to work on the low EQ, or maybe some examples of basslines that are simply a no go to mix, of there are any? Still not sure if it is only my level that makes me fail in Mixing some tracks that would work out together very well for the key and Energy Level, but sound all muddy when trying to bring in the new bassline in the Transition. I really like your videos btw. You teach DJing in a nice way, modest and easy to understand. Keep on going, very inspiring. :)

Most guys have never used a knob ISO mixer. Like a Rane, Urie or Bozak mixer to name a few. With those you have the option to say lower reduce the bass of the lead song playing to slowly build up the intro to the second song. Sometimes using the acapella over the new bass line for the new song transitioning in. Just one basic example. Most of us use the crossfader mixer. Try what is called Hamster mixing. Leaving the crossfader centered and using the line volume vertical slides to mix with. Most crossfader models will allow you to play with the EQ knobs to blend fade manipulate your transition. If not. You had to find a song with the same type of bass line to work the mix. Its just one of many ways to work the song mix. I've been spinning Mobile,club,Bars etc since I got hooked in 1978 at the age of 16. I've been fortunate to be allowed to observe, listen, learn and use club equipment with the guidance of some of Ny's and NJ then notable Dj''s. I've since became a full time family man. Now that I'm retired it's become one of my relaxing hobbies. I still enjoy the pleasure it gives me.After all these years I can't shake the pleasure and rush I still get from spinning. Plus it brings back all the good memories of real funny parting. When people came sharply dressed in style, had manners and respect for eachother. Thanks for the video. keep sharing. Peace!
