As an old high school tennis coach I have coached and watched lots of sets. Most players have stronger forehands and the percentage of really good backhands is much lower. The percentage of real good drop shots is probably the lowest among all types of shots. It helps if you tend to play close to the baseline and frequently move forward because you opponent probably assumes your going to hit an approach shot when they see you taking the racquet back up high and moving forward. I like to run drills where my players mix in drop shots with slice approach shots. As a player I have lots of experience on clay where mixing up spins helps you to win. Hitting one handers with Continental grip , high take back with shoulder turn helps disguise your intent. You don’t want them to be able to read your drop shot so they get to move forward before you actually are making the shot. Also you absolutely have to play to the score as this is a low percentage shot.

Drop shots in doubles are rarely seen. No go at all?
@MeikeBabelTennis Жыл бұрын
It has to be really good bc the opposite net player could easily get to it

Unless both operators are behind the baseline or one is way off court and you could hit a drop volley angle shot into the doubles alley on the opposite side away from opponents.

I am trying to learn how to slice, I end up doing drop shot instead 😊

@@MeikeBabelTennis It's the 98, not the 98 L right Meike? Because as I told you, I'm still interested in a Yonex but an L: the Ezone 98 L or the Vcore 98 L . That's why I'm very interested in hearing your opinion, although from what I understood at the time and from your comment now I get the idea that you haven't tried the Vcore 98 L. Thanks
@MeikeBabelTennis Жыл бұрын
@@rucas10 Yes, it's the regular vCore, not the L. I use the Ezone 98L a lot when I have to feed a lot

Drop Shot: Because smashing the ball straight into the net is just too mainstream. Let's aim for new lows, people! 🤷♂️🎾
